Does anyone know where I can purchase a pattern to make an acolyte robe? Or perhaps, in your church, you call the youth who assist with the worship service, servers. I've had no luck with an internet search, or at our local fabric shop. Thanks, M |

Just a suggestion, but have you looked in the costume sections of the Big 4? I know they have several things that might work (of course I could be completely envisioning the wrong thing). I'm thinking something like a monk's robe, and I know there are several patterns for something like that in their costume sections under medeival time period. Here's one that I found, that is probably intended for choir robes: Butterick pattern (http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B3820=x&TI=10013&page=9) Here's another one monk's robes, sort of (http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4627.htm?tab=costumes&page=3) OF course what I'm thinking of is based off of movies, because at our church we don't use robes, so I may be completely off base, and the really ironic thing is the particular pattern I was thinking of, they have either changed the picture or discontinued it. Hi Marily, Welcome to Sew Whats News. I am not sure what you are looking for exactly. I was thinking along the same lines as Ticia, looking in the costume section of the big 4. Is this similar to what the minster/priest would wear only not as ornate? Summer Summer

Hi Marily, welcome When my son was an acolyte, he wore a full-length gown under a white tunic. I think the Butterick #B3820 in green - I can't read the view # - would do the trick. Hope this helps, the posters here are so incredilbly helpful and friendly. Take care NanaBear |

NanaBear, Summer, & Ticia, Thanks for the replies. Here's a link to something similar to what I'm looking for: www.churchsupplies.com/store/serveralbs.shtml Younger kids (ages 9-14) are wanting to serve and they want to wear a robe. So I was thinking of something simple, no hood, kind of monkish. (Is that a word?) I might have to use a costume pattern and alter it to what I want. But I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that. M |
