Hello, l would like some help please on starting to do machine quilting. All l have done is a small patchwork bag some years ago now but l am afraid doing it by hand is not possible any more with my hands due to my disability. My first question is that l want to make a quilt for the bed and need some advice on where to look for patterns, secondly what foot should l use on my machine, l have a brother PE 300s. l have been doing dressmaking etc for many years and have now decided that l would like to have a go at quilting. As my machine does embroidery l thought l would incorparate that some how into the quilt, perhaps by putting some designs on the plain squares?. finally what size squares should l use, l do have quite a few 4x4 inchs and 5x5 inchs. l hope some of you can help me with my questions as l am quite eager to have a go but am not sure how to get started. Thanks in advance, Jasmine. |

Welcome Jasmine, You can start right here on this site. JoAnne has several lessons posted on making different blocks and finishing off a quilt. Here is the link. http://sew-whats-new.com/CMS/index.php?option=content&task=section&id=2&Itemid=32 There are a lot of block and quilt patterns available on the internet. I would start with a search on Google. Here is a site that I found when looking to make a specific size block. They are free block patterns. http://www.quilterscache.com/QuiltBlocksGalore.html You can post a question here and you will get a great answer. Everyone here is friendly and helpful. We also have a lot of fun quilting together in cyberspace. So join in with us. Happy sewing/quilting/crafting
