I was just curious if any of you experienced quilters have entered any of your quilts for judging at your 4H, local or state fairs? If you have, what do they judge on? Do they have different categories? Why did you enter it? The reason I ask this question, is in my local county, they are trying to promote more crafts/sewing projects to be entered at the county fair. They asked me to help with this project. I don't know where to begin?
Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

I entered a wallhanging last year. Got a second place for it. I was happy with it.

Ours has a lot of categories. Basically any different craft has a category. Then there are seperate categories for like quilts and wall hangings. It is very hard to figure out which category to enter in. I finally just took it to the head ladu and she filled it out.

Anyways I think a good way to advertise your event/get more entries is to go to your local guild and try to do some cross promotional thing with them. Also I would have been a lot hapier or more encouraged if there was a beginner category.

Wow, I second Mary! It looks like a water color painting. I would of thought that would be a first place! Thanks for your reply. I think they have tried the local guilds. The problem with the quilt quilds in my area, is that their meetings are during the work week. There are three of us here at my place of employment that would like to attend a meeting, but it is not possible, unless we take time off of work. :bluesad: I'll join I guess when I retire.

Liz,
I bet if you would talk to the board members of that guild, you could get them to experiment with a meeting at a time that suited you to see if others interested in that time would turn out.. The sewing guild here in town has 3 or 4 different meeting times to satisfy all interested sewers and also to appeal to all areas of interest.. The quilters guild here is very large, and they have several different group meetings. (neighborhoods, in some cases; type of quilting in others;)..
