Hi,

I'm new here and to quilting. I just bought Janome and seem to like it. I just wish it had better directions with it. I am trying to quilt and I have the Embroidery Foot on (looks like a darning foot to me) and the feed dogs are down. It doesn't seem to let the material move freely. I am not sure what my settings should be.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Debbie - Dade City, FL

Are you trying to free motion quilt ??? Feed dogs down, slow speed (till you get used to moving the fabric around.) Foot is oval plastic ??? (thats the embroidery foot) Use # 3 stitch setting. Quilting gloves (with rubber fingers will help you to move the fabric around). Practice before you put your quilt under. Free motion is easy once you get the rhythm of moving it around.

If you're NOT free motion quilting. You should have the walking foot on. Feed dogs UP.

welcome to the boards Debbie, i agree with Chrysantha, if you are free motion quilting, you do the moving, if you are doing straight lined quilting the walking foot and feed dogs up and the machine will move things along.
