My 3 yr old and I have been (re)reading a picture book called The Name Quilt. It's about a girl and her grandmother who share their family history through the squares of a quilt. It inspired my little daughter to make her own name quilt for her Lammy doll. She was so proud to sit next to me on the sewing bench with an embroidery hoop and a needle and thread. I threaded the needle and knotted the thread and she made all the stitches. I used her creation to form the center square of a small little quilt for Lammy and embroidered her name and Lammy's as well and the date. I have to bind the edges this morning and then Lammy will be all ready to snuggle in her new Name Quilt. I just had to share this story, since I am bursting with as much pride as my daughter right now. Andrea

That is a wonderful story Andrea. I'm sure that little quilt will be treasured.

I'm glad you shared your story ...I think it's great to do things with your children...I made a bag with my 4 year old GS one day while he was visiting me ...he was so proud of himself...and then we made a hand puppet out of sock's ...he thought that was great ...we were just making memories together.
