Is there a reason to use fusible fleece instead of batting. It seems like in the patterns it's called for, I could just as easily use the batting that I have in my stash already. Right now I'm making a diaper bag and it calls for fusible fleece, I've just used batting at this point, because I didn't see a reason not to, using batting worked just fine in my rocker cushions. Any opinions?

The only time I used the fusible fleece I wasn't very happy with it. I suppose if it is a large piece with nothing to hold the fabric to the batting it might be a good idea. But other than that, batting seems fine. You could try the fusible and maybe you would like it, but if you are happy with what you have been using there is no reason to change.
It would really be a pain if it was in something you wash and it bubbled like some interfacing, wouldn't it? I don't know if it does or not.

I've used the fusible batting for placemats, runners and projects like that. Never in quilt. I would use in making a bag as it would probably help stabilize the project and would be easier to manipulate. Once washed, I find it to be the same as cotton batting that shrinks just a little and quite like the effect. I guess it's a matter of preference.

Okay, ya'll have confirmed what I was thinking, so I'll keep with the batting.

I use the fusible and I love it... No surprises on the back side when you finish machine quilting... I mean tucks and wrinkles etc...It keeps all the layers perfectly straight and no ripping ... That is worth the world to me..I have used it for 2 different sets of placemats that are each used every day, and the families involved love them.. No complaints about performance anywhere.. :bg: :bg:
