I am looking for a tutorial on making gussetted pockets. You know, the kind on cargo pants with a side gusset and flap. My one and only Ottobre magazine (4/2004) had a tutorial but my mom has it! Any help is appreciated! (Also posted in Gen Sewing forum) see the mundane life of a housewife.

Hallo Blackie, Why do not you mail them? <email address removed for privacy> and ask the if they can supply you with a copy of the article by mail. Because etc. etc. etc. Kind regards François With kind regards,

Do you think you could figure it out by looking closely at an example? There are a couple of different styles, and I know I've done at least one of them. I think if you stroll into a store and examined a pair of cargo pants you'll be able to figure out the order of operations for the style you're going for. I say this b/c I can see you've been sewing up a storm lately and I'm certain that *you* can do it.

Andrea - thanks for the vote of confidence - a gal from the Ottobre site emailed me the magazine page and altho' I don't have the pattern pieces with me, I know enough to move on and go for it! For the record I am a pattern junkie tho' - I hate to "improvise", even on something like a pocket! see the mundane life of a housewife.

For the record I am a pattern junkie I _ought_ to be a pattern junkie! I adapted a pattern recently b/c I had some design modifications I wanted to try and I fowled it all up. It worked out ok in the end, but the pattern pieces I drew up aren't worth saving since I had to do so much snipping on the fabric afterward. And now I'm working on this pair of pants (my first pattern from ready to wear), and since my pants didn't come with instructions, I'm a little nervous about the fly placket. I really don't get it, but I'm going to muddle my way through. Andrea
