I looked at both of these machines today at Target and I was quite impressed with that they SAY they will do. I want to get this for my DIL who is getting her PhD, so I don't want to buy a used machine. She needs it for mending and some basic sewing (maybe someday some quilting). Does anybody know anything about these -- you can't try them out at Target as you would be able to do at a dealer so I have to get some input from my sewing sisters I didn't think about looking at the warranty on these until I was out of the store ... (I tell my DH 'my thinker is broke') I will also go to Sears next week and look at their Janome-made machines -- I got some input on them on another thread. The Brother machine is $189.99 and the Shark (Euro Pro) is $299.99. That's the kind of price range I am seeking. Any others (specific model numbers) you can recommend??? Thanks! Happy Stitchin' from sunny Arizona

I have the Shark 9110, and I love it. It has every stitch I will ever need, is easy to use and has never given me a moment's trouble. I should warn you though -the alphabets are in upper case only! They show capital letters on the box, but the machine doesn't actually make them. Also, the Euro-Pro website doesn't offer any instructions or trouble-shooting advice for this machine. Oh...the Euro-pro has a 25 year warranty, but you have to pack it up and send it to the factory if it breaks. "No more twist! No more twist!"
