I just recently became interested in the history of Chenille embroidery and while I see many examples of the work I cannot find ANY instructions on how this is/was done! Does anyone know how or do this anymore? I'm only 23, but my mother had the greatest bedspread that was white with raised hearts on it that had been her grandmother's. I didn't even know what the technique/style was called until recently doing an ebay search for "vintage bedspreads" trying to find a similar bedspread to my mother's. I saw so many great patterns up for auction however I don't see this artform being practiced anywhere currently. Could someone direct me to a source that details this process? I would love to see how this raised embroidery technique was done by hand. If you have work that you've done, please post it also (machine or other). Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6196237426&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 This one is an incredibly striking example! |
