I have a jacket that I got from a thrift store. I like everything about it except for the shoulder pads. I'd cut those out most of the time, but this time, they are inside the lining of the jacket iteslf instead of just hanging underneath the inside. Is it possible to remove them, or have them removed by somone who can do alterations? or am I just stuck looking like a tiny linebacker? |

Hi Splattered and welcome to Sew Whats New. You can try taking them out but sometimes there will be a hollow where they sat on your shoulder. It just looks like things aren't quite right. MaryW

Just unpick the lining from the bottom, and carefully remove them. I think the darn things should be outlawed. If the jacket is an outerwear type, it should be OK. If it's very fitted, then Mary is right. I always leave them out of anything I make and have never had a problem, but then, I don't wear fitted clothes. They used to even stick them in t-shirt patterns. Weezyrider |
