Hi, can anyone tell me what would be the circumfrance of the neck for a baby. I am trying to make some bibs. But the patterns I have gotten off the internet seem offly small. I have enlarge them from the original. Also I seem to have a problem getting them to velcro close with out a gab. How large do you make the bibs? I am going to be new grandma. Thanks for any info. I made my bibs with approx a 5 - 6inch diameter hole. Some are bigger, some smaller. I have a newborn doll that is pretty close to real baby size (course it depends on how big baby is) and these seem to work ok. There is somewhere on this forum where instructions were given for bibs and I used her directions. I also picked up a few bibs at the local thrift store for next to nothing and used them as patterns.

I've just begun the free bib pattern project from sewing.org I'll let you know how that looks when done, and you can check it out for yourself. I'd have finished it but I wanted to get some bias tape in a contrast fabric, so I'm delayed by a day.

I make bibs out of handtowels. Fold over 4-5 inches, cut a circle 5" in diameter, trim with ribbing. Great for getting on over the head of youngster as they run around as so many of them do! Then you can decorate or trim the bib as desired. quick and easy to make. Could make the hole smaller so it would fit a new baby, this size is good for them once they start moving around altho my grandson was able to "fit" into them at 3 months-big baby!

I just finally got to the free bib pattern from sewing.org today, and I loved it. It has sleeves and a front pocket to catch crumbs/spills, and it just ties in back. I'm going to make several of them for friends, since there seems to be a bit of a fertility boom going on with my loved ones these days!
