My daughter just sent me this. When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid, And bring so much happiness, just as they did. I want to pay back all the joy they've provided. Returning each deed! Oh, they'll be so excited! (When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.) I'll write on the walls with reds, whites and blues, and bounce on the furniture, wearing my shoes. I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out. I'll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they'll shout! (When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.) When they're on the phone and just out of reach, I'll get into things like sugar and bleach. Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head. (When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.) > When they cook dinner and call me to eat, I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat. I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table, and when they get angry, I'll run, if I'm able. (When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.) I'll sit close to the TV, through the channels I'll click. I'll cross both my eyes just to see if they stick. I'll take off my socks and throw one away, and play in the mud 'til the end of the day! (When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.) And later in bed, I'll lie back and sigh, I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes. My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping, And say with a groan, "She's so sweet when she's sleeping!" Joanne Baxter - Lorain, Ohio. God Bless All Moms and Grandma's Everywhere. MaryW

I could get soooooooooooo carried away with this. You know, dress the cat, pretend I am sick and miss school, have sleepovers with my best friends. Drink chocolate milk and eat popcorn until I'm sick. MaryW

I printed this out to give to my neighbor to give to HER kids. (her kids are great though...polite, nice, good students, they work...if only 1/2 the kids I've come in contact with over the yrs were like hers, I think the world would be better off.)

That is really cute! Here's a sonnet I wrote many years ago, but it turned out to be pretty true, even with 7 children and 16 grandchildren...I really have done it all, rocked the babies and worn the gaudy earrings when I sang. ON GROWING OLD GRACEFULLY I won't become a sweet old lady, nor Is doting grandmama at all my style. I loved my children, love them still, and for Their welfare worked and prayed. Yet all the while... I knew it wasn't me, not what I'd meant. That life was what was taught to me, my place, So I was told, I'm sure with good intent. But now with children grown, I want my space. I have my friends; I draw and write and sing And sing--and shall, as coming years allow. Too long did duty rule and steal my Spring. I must be me alone, my time is now. I won't sit rocking babies in a chair ... I bought some gaudy earrings I can wear! --MariLynn Johnson Life is a song...we give it harmony or dissonance.
