Hey everyone what did I miss while I was MIA? I attended a Hancock's Grand Opening here in New Orleans last weekend, the American Sewing Guild which I belong to, set up a booth and I maned a table for the opening for three days and then I had to help with the registration for the religion class at my church last Tuesday. I signed the Grandkids up for CCD which is religion classes for Catholics in case you didn't know what that was. And......I've been sewing some dresses for me and hemming pants and things for the kids for school, they start next week. On top of all that we are close to selling our place, we have a very interested party who I hope will buy the place so we are frantically looking for two pieces of property for myself and one of my sons 80 miles from here. My son that was in rehab in Feb is doing wonderful and is excited about moving with us and getting out the city and starting to build his house out in the country with us. Mama's excited about that also, he's back to being the son I knew before the drugs.

I am so glad I told Brenda I couldn't get in the swap I would be pulling my hair out of my head trying to do all this and doing the swap.

By the way, the head people at Hancock Fabric are super. They welcomed us there with open arms and even offered us a classroom for meetings so we could have a neighborhood group in the suburbs of New Orleans. Very nice group to work with and the sales they had on fabric was super. Of course I spent my fair share and added to my stash, of couse.

We had a lightning storm here last Tuesday and I lost the lights for around 5 hours and then when they came back on I lost a tv, a telephone, and my ethernet card in my computer. GRRRRRRR As you can see I got the computer up and running via usb port and I got a new tv, the phone can stay off, Nahhhh it was a spare phone so I'm okay. That's about all that's going on here pretty dull don't you thinK?????????? :nah:
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Yesterday I was just saying to myself "Where the heck is Susie?"
I really like our Hancocks here too. It has a lot of great fabric at good prices.
Glad you are back and things are going well.
Now -- where is Jan?

Welcome back Susie. Even though I don't post a lot I am reading the posts a few times each day. I have missed your wit & wisdom. I just heard we are getting a hobby lobby here I wish it was Hancocks All we have is JoAnnes & some independent quilt shops & WalMart JoAnnes has more of everything else & less fabric everytime I go there & the independant are too expensive for me. So I get most of my fabric from Walmart right now I wish we had more choices. I used to work at So Fro fabrics but they left the area & I don't know if they are even around anymore. Does Hobby Lobby sell a lot of fabric?

Barb, Our Hobby Lobby, which is 30 miles away from me, sells a good bit of fabric but nothing like Hancocks or even our new WalMart. Walmart has a lot of quilting fabric and home dec sort of things but not much in garment fabric. For denims and silks and things like that I have to go to Joanne's and Hancocks. Both in either direction is 30 miles from me. WalMart on the other hand is only less than 2 miles away.

Jan is MIA also? Jan Jan come out where ever you are!!!!

It's good to be back although I don't know for how long with the way my life is going lately. :bluesad: I'm off this morning to get my Janome 9000 which has been in the shop since December 29th, actually it came home for a week and went right back. I think they like my machine and are keeping it hostage.

There is both a Hancock Fabrics and Hobby Lobby opening in Port Huron MI soon. This is about an hour's drive away but we go there for to see hockey games (I know typical Candians!) so I'll be able to check them both out.

Port Huron is about a 2 hr drive from me, I have trouble getting to Jo Annes by myself & that is 10 minutes away. I can't wait for school to start.

I wish we had a Hancock closer but they closed the one they had in Chalmette it didn't produce the volumn so they closed. We also had a Cloth World which I'm told was Joanne's before they renamed it Joanne's. They are closed also. We just got a Home Depot and a Office Depot here within the last two years so I'm hoping they will open more things as the neighborhood grows but I'll be moving hopefully soon and then they'll build everything I want. Up where we are looking for property I will have to travel 35 minutes to the closest WalMart. Hancocks' is either 45 minutes one way and 1 hour the other way.

Thanks Lyn, Is it hot enough for ya in AZ? I bet it's hot hot hot. We are staying cooler than we were a few weeks ago. We have been having thunderstorms everyday ughhh. I lost my ethernet card a cordless phone and a tv with the last thunder boomer we had last week. I've had enough of those for a while. The swimming pool even has been too hot to swim in. The temp here has been in the mid nineties with the humidity around 95. :re:

Chrys, Shurrrrr don't tell anyone it will be our little secret. I sure wish I could have gone to that thing. Our leaders of the American Sewing Guild went and said she can't wait to tell us everything she learned there and at the ASG conference in Nashville.

My hubby was laid off again last week and today he got a job offer in Milton, Fl. 4 hrs from here. We'll have to see what happens. Then he got a call from a local company for work. I sure hope he gets a good offer soon.

Hey Bud, Yes I'm back but it says I've only been a member since 2005. Seems like I've been here longer than that ROFL I have been so busy with kids and all I haven't had chance to get on the computer. Hugs to all

Susie Milton, Florida is not a bad little place to live if you don't mind being surrounded with the "oldies but goldies".

And the pics were beautiful. Jan has been to heaven and back. I love that little quaint village pic you sent me with the ocean in the background. Simply breathe taking.

Patsy, After a week of no job offers he was called yesterday within 1 hour of each other and got two job offers. He took the one in town. The hardest part of it all was I wasn't going with him, I run the family owned business here with my family and couldn't leave. Now he will not have to travel. I would have loved to have gone with him to Milton. I would have finally had a vacation from this place. But no such luck.

Jan I hope you are right. I'm so ready. But I've come to the conclusion that I have to be patience I'm right where I'm suppose to be in my life and I am trying so hard to just smile and hang in there although sometimes I feel like I WANT TO GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but then I realize what's going to happen is going to happen and I can't do a thing about it but hang in there.

Raymond starts on Monday and won't get a check until Friday the 2nd of Sept so things are going to be rough but I'll hang in there and we'll make it. Thing is I own property so I don't qualify for any thing in the way of assistance. I want to go to work but it will cost us money for me to go to work so that's out of the question too.

Soup then Susie, a lot of stone soup. Hang in there girl - think of how many weigtwatchers points you save by not eating...

I never used to get paid n September at all and just a holding wage over summer so with the new job I'm paid all year round so this could be a nice surprise for me this autumn. Not with 2 kids at uni though..
