Ok, I finally took the time and uploaded some pictures from my daughters wedding last August. This is the dress I made for her. The pattern was a Vogue 2717 which we altered so that it was almost exactly like a dress she had tried on from Maggie Sottero.

It was a satin dress with a white organza overdress, laced up the back with a pleated 'sash' across the waist, hand beaded (and boned) bodice. I also sewed a string of beads along the bottom of the organza dress and did the veil with the same beads. I made the veil and glued beads randomly along the bottom half. I made Bailey's (ring bearer - grandson) vest and tie and Rainen's (flower girl - granddaughter) dress though mom decided she didn't like the red ribbon around the waist and took it off just before the ceremony and tied it into a big bow at the back.

I realized after the wedding that there were no really good pictures of her dress which kind of disappointed me after all that work in making it, and since it rained so hard and we were outside, the bottom half of her dress got covered in sand and dirt and got wrecked. Once we cleaned it, there was sand in all the beading in the bodice and the bottom has a permanent grey stain from the beach sand, but like I told her, she wasn't going to wear it again, so we would just pack it away.

The first 4 pictures are of the original Maggie Sottero dress which I found on Ebay whiched help me in redesigning the pattern we had, and for the beading diagram. It was a 4 month project in total, but totally worth it as she was so thrilled with it, and it only cost me slightly over $200 for everything (got to love those sales). The original dress was $1500.

The best thing about the dress was that my sister has a very fancy dancy embroidery machine and she made an applique to put into the back of the dress that said 'to the burger with all my love, mom'. Burger was Kim's nickname as she was growing up. It was a real special moment when she saw that!

Now my oldest stepdaughter is requesting that I make her wedding dress (the one with the flower girl Rainen). Its a wonderful gift to be able to make for them that's for sure! Now lets see if I can make the link work to my photo album

Absolutely lovely bride, dress and pictures. Wedding weather typical coastal BC!! Thanks for the memory. I forwarded the site to my daughter in Ont who was married last year as well with similar profile dress but nowhere as detailed as yours.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. The day I started on the dress, I had to phone a girlfriend for moral support before I made the first cut into the fabric. It came together like a dream, in fact, I got most of my help from this website, I did a search on the net for something about bridal sewing and there you all were! The mock-up dress fit her like a glove, so there wasn't a ton of fitting to do, the worst part was trying to figure out how to alter the back from a zipper to lacing.

That is the same couple that got married. She had the baby August 29, which we now realize was the same night Katrina struck I believe. And now I have a gorgeous granddaughter named Callie

 What a beautiful bride and dress. Wonderful workmanship. My grandmother made my mother's dress and I cherish the photo's since both Nana & Mom are now gone. Unfortunately, the dress was loaned out before I was married and was never returned. I hope it's cherished by whoever wore it after Mom.

The dress is beautiful.....you did an amazing job......you have given me some inspiration, you see my DD is getting married in March and has asked me to make her wedding gown. The last dress I made for her, she was 9 years old :bang: little did I know she would ask me to make her wedding gown. I am really nervous about the who idea :whacky:
The pictures were really lovely, and thank you for sharing them.
