Hi,

I was given a Singer Model 457 Zig-Zag from my mother in law. I am opening my own business and am waiting for some funds to get in before I go buy my own machine. Anyhow, I have this machine with no manual and can not figure out how to thread the bobbin. It keeps getting jammed. I've looked on the internet for advice, and can't find anything that explains it well. Does anyone have one of these machines or lots of experience with horizontal bobbin threading? Thanks in advance.

Singer 457 Threading (http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Diagrams/Threading_Pages/Singer_Sewing_Machine_Threading/singer_457_stylist_threading_diagram.htm)

I just found this after reading some of the other posts. I'll try it and let you know how it works.

If it hasn't already been done, every 457 ever made has a plastic timing gear that disintegrates and has to be replaced. Usually, if it is completely gone, the rotating hook (surrounding the bobbin case) will not be turning when you turn the hand wheel.
