Rainen's jacket (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v425/LauraBC/Sewing/Dsc02797.jpg) Rainen's jacket and pants (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v425/LauraBC/Sewing/Dsc02795.jpg) This is the outfit I just finished for my granddaughter who will be 3 in Sept. I quilted the lining with a batting and a black backing, then cut it all out. Stupid me, trying to be sooo careful cut out two hood pieces exactly the same as the corduroy has a nap and I forgot to flip the pattern piece over to get the mirror image. So I had to do some redesigning of the hood, making it a bit smaller, as I had no lining fabric left at all. Hopefully she will like this, she's quite the diva with clothes lately. Can't imagine what she will be like when she's 15!! Laura

It's very cute. I'm working on a cord. jacket too for my 3 y.o. and I put in a funky lining too! What did you mean about fliping the pattern piece over? When you layed the fabric and pattern out, did you have the fabric folded along the grainline and cut double thickness? I don't _think_ I had troble with this, but now I'm about to run up thre and double check it!!

Oh, I love it! The jewel tones are so pretty. She is definately going to love it...as far as the hood goes, who is going to know the difference? Just don't tell her...we are the most critical of our own work. Angela |

Andrea, because the corduroy has a nap and because of the way I had cut out the other pieces of the fabric, I cut out one piece of the hood on a single layer of fabric, then moved down to cut out the 2nd piece, but cut it out exactly the same, not flipping the pattern over to get the mirror image. So I had two pieces cut out exactly the same, so when I went to sew them together, one piece had the corduroy on the inside and one on the outside. Does that make sense?? BTW she liked the outfit, even though its a bit big, she'll grow into it.
