I have just finished a jar quilt...with fruit and veggies instead of bugs. Any suggestions on quilting the inside of the jars? Or do I? I was thinking of just quilting around a few of the fruits/veggies in each one but open for suggestions. Thanks Violet I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

I've never made one but am thinking about doing the bugs in a jar one for my grandsons.. I thought I'd just quilt around the jars, not inside but am interested to see what others have to say about it.

My mom did a frog bug jar quilt for my son's teacher from last year. She quilted a heart inside each of the jars. I saw one at a quilt show a couple of years ago that had lines like you would draw on a pic. to give it the rounded look of a jar. |

Well I didn't get too many suggestions so I went ahead with my initial idea and free-motioned quilted around some of the fruit/veggies in the jars. Looks good...glad I did it! Violet I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

I've made several canning jar quilts and that's how I quilted inside the jars.... around the fruits and veggies on the fabric. On some smaller jar quilts, I just quilted around the jars and left the inside unquilted. Aren't jar quilts alot of fun? I love finding new fabrics to add to my fruits/veggie/food (love to find candy fabrics) & bug/butterfly fabrics. I've collected a few fish fabrics for a fish bowl quilt. Haven't started it yet. |

I'd love to see pics too! I just can't get this in my head, unless it is like a pencil holder??

Here's a link to a jar quilt that I found...it should give you an idea of what it is. A lot of people do these for kids with bugs, candies, etc. I'm planning on doing one for my great-nephew...when I can find the time. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=93957.msg888159;topicseen This person has even provided a tutorial to make the jar blocks.
