I am wanting to buy a sewing machine. I don't sew much but may want to in the future. I have always wanted to make a quilt (nothing fancy). I'm looking at a Singer 5050 or a used Janome/New Home MX 3123. Can any give me any suggestions or what would be good machine. I want a top drop in bobbin machine. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry but I am not familiar with the Singer model but I do know that the NewHome MX 3123 is a very highly rated discontinued model that is still sold on line. There are good reviews on this machine at PatternReview. You might also find reviews at Epinions and QuiltersReview on line.
