a displaced friend suggested this. As you know, many people evacuated and now have no home to go to. They got motel rooms, thinking they would only be gone a couple of days, and are now stranded. My friend's husband has cancer, they have huge medical bills, and are dependent on her income.....she works at the Grand Casino in Biloxi, which is now on top of a Holiday Inn. At least I think that's the one. Anyway, she suggested that if you would like to help any of these victims that are stranded at hotels, and can't get home [due to gas or other problems] go to a local hotel in your area, and offer to pay for a night at the hotel THEY are at. I don't know how you could check to make sure it went to a victim's hotel room, other than having the local hotel call one down there. My friend is in Defuniak FL. I'm so mad at the hotels right now....they only took $10 a night off their bill. You'd think they could do more. Allie "onward through the fog"

You'd think they could, but maybe they aren't able to....LOTS of our hotels here LOST parts of the hotels in the last two hurricanes, Dennis last month and Ivan last year...( we have a hotel here in town lost it's whole roof.) Some never reopened. So we're all in the same kinda boat here...but we're doing the best we can...we're also running out of things and don't have ways to get to where help is needed. They tell us to stay off the highways. Some roads aren't passible. Gas is being rationed. Food is being rationed... As long as there isn't any price gouging going on, I'm pretty sure they're doing the best they can... Chrys
