Hello, I have been searching to no avail for a pattern for a sleeveless towel robe. I would like to make it for my daughter who wears a 12. Can anyone help please? Thank you. Debbie |

When I was a teenager, towel robes were all the rage. They were shaped like a T. One was centered on the top, two were gathered for front and back on the bottom. We cut an oval from the center of the top towel for the neckline and cut a slit from the neckline down the center back (or front) for a future zipper. Then the towel was tried on and we marked the required width of the towel for the underarm and sewed that part shut making sleeves. For the bottom we split one towel in half and sewed up to whatever length we wanted for the zipper. The two bottom towels were sewn together lengthwise for side seams. They were gathered and added to the top. A zipper was added and we used bias tape to finish out the neck. I think that if this is the type of pattern you wanted, you could probably adjust it by cutting the top towel down and hemming or using binding on the arm edges or perhaps, if she is small enough, you might be able to use a large hand towel for the top. Another idea would be that you could probably make it like a robe from a Christmas play. You could probably use two towels, split one in half and join at the shoulders. You would need to figure out how much and what type of neckline you wanted, v, oval or round, cut it out of both towels and just sew at the shoulders. If you wanted, you could sew up a little bit from the bottom and add a zipper to the front. Bias tape seems to be the best finish I've found for this type of project because it doesn't add bulk. Maybe this will help? I hope it isn't too difficult to follow. pam
