i would like the feeling of the regular fat q swappers on this, seems like we are needing a BIT of a brake as interest has faded the past few months. is a brake needed? i have no problem continuing or taking a break and then getting going in a few months again. let me know here or at <email address removed for privacy> what your feelings are and i will let you know in a 2-3 weeks what the outcome has been. PLEASE let me know how you are feeling |

Carman, I'm ok either way. I enjoy the swaps but I too have noticed a real slow down in interest. Whatever the majority wants is fine with me.

I am more interested in the quilting block swap than fabric swap these days. I do keep an eye on it in case there is a fabric I MUST have or MUST join.

When I first joined, I was doing just about every fabric swap...now I'm watching only for ones that I really want.

I have been extremely busy planning for an MDA walk, so I have had to slow down on the swapping for a while. Maybe after Christmas I can get back into the FQ swaps if you decide to continue them. |

I love swapping FQs because there is so many different flavours that come to my mail box from all of the wonderful swappers here... but if some need to slow down than so be it... I will be here in North Carolina waiting patiently.. Hope to see you are soon.... Boo Hoo Karen Karen

i know we have had a slow down for awhile now. if you feel a break is needed thats ok with me. i think that all of a sudden to many swaps at once and it's hard to keep up. i really have enjoyed the f q swaps and will do when its out there.

I am patiently awaiting a fabric swap that is for something other than quilts. I realize it is a lot easier to do quilt fabric swaps, but I don't quilt often (and definately not very well ) I need to do a regular swap so I can participate in the stocking swap at Christmas. I'm tempted to start my own swap, but I don't know the first thing about starting one or completeing it for that matter. So I will hope someone starts a swap that I can particpate in soon. Charity |

Charity Just a few ideas from this part of the world.. I do quilt... and I do use the FQs for different color variations.. BUT... let me give you an idea... in most cases the fat quarters I receive from this particular swap are used for "purses"; pockets for the inside of my felted purses; pot holders; hot potatoe bags; appliques (sp) for Tshirts... etc... Just a few variations on the wonderful way I have felt when a squishy came in the mail.. Welcome to a great spot to meet wonders of the world. Karen Karen

Chartity, just start one up it is not hard at all, how you do it is up to you and how big is up to you, start a new thread for suggestions and see what the group thinks and says and go from there. |

Karebear, I have considered the possibility of using the fat quarters for something other than a quilt. But I am unsure exactly how big a fat quarter is. I have never purchased one having no need for them so.... Carman, I may just do that, check out if anyone is interested. I would consider doing a fabric swap for little girl's dresses. I make a lot of dresses (hope to start selling some of them HA!) But a fabric swap would be nice for that, I imagine with that though you would only get one new fabric cause it would require a swap of about 3 yards of fabric and I know I can't afford to buy a whole lot of fabric (unless I just sent out from the stash I already have, but I bought those fabrics cause I like them so that kinda defeats the purpose) anyway, perhaps I will post something to check interest. Thanks to both of you for the suggestions!! Charity |

A FQ is 18" x 22". Two of those would definitely make a nice stocking!

Charity, I've used some of the FQ's I've received in swaps to make tops or skirts for my granddaughter. Just mix and match a few of them that you received and you'll have enough for a unique outfit.

Thanks for the advice, I am beginning to think I could make a few outfits for my daughter with the fat quarters. Since I know the size now, thanks for letting me know!! She is so skinny, I made her a cute little outfit out of bandana's a few months ago and it looks absolutely adorable. I had a number of people ask me where I bought it when they saw it. I didn't think about the fact that a fat quarter would be about the size of a bandana. Thanks again everyone!! Charity |
