Our local quilt club is having a quilt in this weekend to see how many quilts they can get done for evacuees. We have "Lake Cisco Christian Camp" and are expecting 100 to 150 families that have been displaced by Katrina. They are hoping to get enough for each family(?) to have a quilt of their own. (That's how I understood it.) The dream goal is to have enough made for everyone to get a quilt. This is a small area and it hasn't had much publicity so I don't know how well it's going to turn out. Please say a prayer for our local quilters and if you have the opportunity to join or organize a quilt in in your area please do.

Texas angel, that sounds like a very busy weekend for you. I assume you will be tying these quilts. Another nice idea someone thought of was to make quillows. That way it is both portable and you get a pillow as well.

We only had about 48 people come here from LA the other day and I don't know for sure if any more will come. Sunday morning they had gotten 20 done and my mom did two at home so I know there were 22 given. I don't know how many more they got done Sun. they have a freearm(?) machine they were quilting them on over the weekend. I'm sure that each person will have a quilt soon even if they didn't get them all finished this weekend. Thanks for the prayers ladies.

22 quilts is a lot! Don't worry, more will be made.
