While Mary is getting better has everyone squared their blocks????? didn't see any questions so I take it everyone has perfect 12 1/2" blocks? September block includes the last four months so would be a good idea to have the previous blocks ready. Once all blocks are posted I will hold a chat for questions. I expect pics of the finished quilts |

Joanne, I squared my blocks as I did them each month so all the one's I've done are squared...but I haven't done Aug. block yet...planning on doing it this weekend now that all my other deadlines have been met (Xmas swap, my niece's quilt, quilt challenge). Oh, forgot that I also have the Signature block quilt to put together and quilt...as well as my other UFO's. Oh well this keeps me out of trouble (yeah right ) So Mary...take your time and take care of yourself first. I'm not sitting and twiddling my thumbs just waiting for Sept's block. Still have things to do! TTFN from

Mary, Have a hot totti! (They always make me feel better) Hope you get better soon. JoAnn, I also squared mine as I was doing them. But, some of my really early blocks are not quite 12.5" I have gotten a lot better since the beginning of this class. I can't wait to get my quilt done. Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

The finishing of the quilt in regards to sashing, etc will be there as well with the last block. For those that have come a little short of their finished size block just fold a piece of fabric 1/4" and place over the side to see if any parts of the block will be cut off. If any are way off let me know. |

Liz, I am trusting that our slang/spelling is waaaay off! A hot totty would be a very voluptuous, scantily clad young woman of easy virtue.....whereas a hot toddy would be the rum or whiskey in hot lemon variety. then again perhaps you pronounce "totti", "toddy" thus confusing me even more.. love and kisses, Jan

I meant hot toddy! But, it is the slang, as around here people refer to them as "totties". But, hey whatever will get Mary feeling better. I'm sure there must be hot totty males? There is another terminology problem here in Michigan. It has to do with a "sandwich" that the miners ate while working in the mines. They are still made here in the Upper Penninula of MI and they are called a PASTY (http://www.hu.mtu.edu/vup/pasty/history.htm) . You can not believe the number of tourists who talk about the great tasting PASTIES (http://www.twirlygirl.net/) that they had to eat while visiting. Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

aahhhh yessss. Could be a problem - except following English rules of spelling when pluralised a "y" does become "ies" e.g 'pony' becomes 'ponies' so many are the Cornish paties that I have eaten - appropriatly in Cornwall and my son in law to be has offered to make Stargazy pie (they used to make it at the local pub in Mousehole). Can you imagine how uncomfortable those things must be to take off! love and kisses, Jan

Jan, You are right about the english spelling rules. It is hard to write how they say the two words, "Pasty" is pronounced with the "a" vowel as a short vowel, where as the "pasties" is pronounced with a long "a" vowel sound. So when we here them talking about eating a pasty, they are prounouncing it as pasties. Geez, does this make any sense? I'd imagine that they would hurt during removal. Much like ripping a band-aid off. Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

Hurry and get well Mary! Being down is no fun. I just returned from our vc in Calif. today, and was in the ER room last night at the city where we stayed and have a sinus infection. So this was no fun way to end a vacation but had fun with the grands. Will write more later after reading all the posts. joanne, Hope all is going as planned for you in your surgery too. All my blocks are not 12.5". So I cut them all to be just 12? Am I in trouble? Will email later when feeling better. Let's all go take nice long naps, and wake up feeling good~ One of the best gifts to give a child/grandchild is your listening ear.
