Finally, I'm getting out of Burger King. I start next week at the local hospital in housekeeping. The best part is more money and insurance.

Thanks. The best part is I don't have to work with all the teens anymore. I think that was the hardest part of Burger King.

Congratulations ! My Mom worked for a local hospital in the Housekeeping dept. for a good while.. She got a promotion to inspecting the rooms and she did not care for that. Maids got angry when she found problems with their work.. Then she got into the part of it where she prepared instrument packs to be sterilized and she loved that.. Very precise work , had to be done a certain way, and had to contain exactly the right instruments ..She excelled at that and loved her work..

Carolyn,

I'm happy for you! Now you will have to start sewing yourself scrubs. I have a friend that worked in housekeeping at a hospital for years. She loved it. Our middle daughter is a nurse's aide and also in the nursing program. She should graduate in another year. It really takes special people to work in the medical community. I work with a lot of peri and menopausal women (including myself)! I don't know which is worse, them or teenagers. ROFLOL

Congratulations on the new job. There's lots of room to grow in hospitals so there's no telling where you'll end up!

Thanks everyone. Last night was my last day at Burger King. No more babysitting teen agers. I start my new job on Wednesday and I am really looking forward to it.

Congratulations and best of luck .. hopefully you can move and work with "real" people (adults, etc) and not those hormone raging teenagers ... and maybe who knows something else will pop up!

Congrats and best wishes on the new job. Like others have said, it opens up doors you could never have imagined. One of the housekeeping staff that cleans in our lab has decided to go back to school and become an LPN, she is so excited. She's in her late 30's. And even if you are happy in housekeeping you are providing a very necessary service, with out the cleaners, we'd be in a real mess in the hospitals.
