My local paper mentioned this Challenge and I thought it would be nice to pass it on here for members from North of 60.

Arctic Winter Games Art Quilt Challenge
Call for Entries
Robin Place Fabrics, working in conjunction with the 2006 Arctic Winter Games, is pleased to announce a Fiber Arts Quilt Challenge in honor of the Arctic Winter Games. The Artic Winter Games theme as well as ours is “Release the Spirit Within”. All fiber artists from the participating regions are invited to join this exciting challenge. These regions include Alaska, the Russian provinces of Magadan and Yamal; the Sami people of Sweden, Norway and Finland; and the Canadian provinces of Northern Alberta, Nunavut, Nunavik-Quebec, Northwest Territories and the Yukon.
The Arctic Winter Games is a high profile circumpolar sport competition for Northern and Arctic athletes. This event also embraces a significant role for performing and visual artists by highlighting talent from the host community and participating regions.
The Fiber Arts Quilt Challenge provides fiber artists from participating regions opportunity to share and celebrate through artistic expression the uniqueness of life in the arctic environment, while promoting growth in fiber arts through multi-cultural sharing. The sponsor of this challenge, Robin Place Fabrics, is a fiber arts quilt store located in Soldotna on the Kenai Peninsula. These areas are eligible: Alaska, the Russian provinces of Magadan and Yamal; the Sami people of Sweden, Norway and Finland; and the Canadian provinces of Northern Alberta, Nunavut, Nunavik-Quebec, Northwest Territories and the Yukon.

I know you don't have many NWTers (I think I am the only one) but awhile back there was a few Alaskans.
