Hello,
I am just new to this site and I would appreciate some help for my friend who just purchased a Janome memorycraft 10001 yesterday.
She noticed in the instructions that it didn't mention WindowsXP professional just up to Windows 2000 and asked if she needed to download a driver to make everything work and was told no.
Catharine got everything set up today but is unable to download any designs from the internet to the machine.
Has anyone out there had this problem? Do you know what is happening and how to fix it?
I would appreciate any and all input regarding this concern please.
Thank you so much.

First off you have to UNZIP the designs...most are zipped files.
You also have to make sure they're jef. files...10000/10001/11000 only take jef.
You have to have Easy Import (software that may or may NOT have come with your machine) It's in Customizer. You need your USB cable connected to the computer.

So...down load an embroidery pattern, unzip it, send it via your USB (making sure your machine is ON and in Embroidery mode (with it's Machine/Hoop symbol). Using your Easy Import.

You may also use a flash card (like for your digital camera). San Disk (with adapter) 16 mb-125mb max. Reader/writer ($20 Memorex, Dazzle, etc...Office Depot, Amazon.com, etc) Again you need to unzip and use your Easy Import.
BTW I'm not an expert by any means...but I do own the 10000 (upgraded to 10001, the 300E, the Compulock (serger), 6500 Pro (quilter) and I just got my 11000 the other day... )
www.winzip.com free limited time use to unzip
Customizer is from your dealer.
File conversion is usually BuzzTools/Explore...Embird. (they will convert almost any format from pes., taj., etc to jef.) they also catalog your designs.

Digitizer resizes, digitizes designs for your machine (also from your dealer). Your dealer should have explained all this to you.....
If you need more help than some of us can provide.

www.clubj.onlinesewing.com (run by a man named Jim who owns a Janome shop, helps us with our idiot questions...and I ask some doozies) cost is $49. a yr and worth GOLD to you if you need him...
He also puts out 2 'letter's Digi Tips, 10 Talk ($33 a yr for each) downloadable and printer friendly...

There are also sites in Yahoo devoted to all Janome's

Chyrs,
I have let Catharine know and I am going over there this afternoon.
I am not much help as I have a Brother Innovis 4000D and all I need to do is put my jumpdrive into the USB port in computer and download and then put it in the USB port in the machine. Yes I have a USB cord for direct downloading however my machine is about 45 feet away from the computer(in livingroom) and machine upstairs in sewing room. Hopefully soon to be rectified!
Again thank you so much for your help.
BLessings,
Jane
