Prices have started to jump already, if you have to fill up, go. The news report it could go higher than the last time. I heard $2.25/ltr in some parts of TO.

We're paying anywhere from $2.54/9 - $2.79/9 a gallon depending and since we're STILL on a gas shortage and may be for some time. We sometimes only get regular gas at the stations. (our cars run on preimum...yes they will run on regular, but they don't run well....) They expect our gas to get up to $4-$5 dollars if Rita does her damage to TX, like Katrina did to LA.

And Yes we DO get feeder bands (squalls) before and after hurricanes hit, no matter where in the gulf they hit...so it's not just the state it hits that has problems, it's the WHOLE gulf coast.

Now those poor evacuee's from Katrina are on the run again....luckily they're safe here, but the ones they sent to TX, are in the path once more...
I hope everyone stays safe this weekend...

I drove by a gas station here in town today that didn't even have the prices up for regular. Don't know if he was changing it, ran out of it. They had the prices for Premium and Diesel listed though.
Right now was are paying around 2.53 to 2.63 for gas, just depends where you are at in the area.
I hope that they stay down or at least come back down before the 7th of Oct. I am driving out of state for the weekend!!!!!!

I work at a convinience store and we had non-stop cars almost all day yesterday up to closing time. I had to lock the doors and people were still waiting for gas. Most of them were locals but some were people from Houston area on their way out of town to wherever they found a place to go. We are about 6-7 hours from Houston and this town and the other small towns are full of people leaving Houston and surrounding areas. Our gas has been at $2.75 for the past few days. Diesel just went up today from $2.79 to $2.89. A few gas stations here in town actually ran out of gas yesterday. Everyone was panicing because some had heard gas was going to go up to $5.00 a gallon in the next couple of days. We started yesterday morning with a little over 5000 gallons of regular and ended with about 3000. This is a little town and we NEVER go through that much gas that quickly.

As for the refugees from New Orleans, I am almost tempted to think the hurricanes are following them. When word got out that Rita was headed to Houston, they started shipping them to Lufkin. And now I hear that Lifkin is where Rita is headed.

The refugees from New Orleans have been, from all the accounts I've heard from the news and from personal friends, rude and very unappreciative of the help people were trying to offer them. Complaining about people giving them water when they wanted soda, and giving them ham and cheese sandwiches when they wanted McDonald's.

I feel sorry for all the children that had to suffer, but the adults are being real pains apparently.

My husband just got back (tonight) from a week in Dallas...Embassy Suites.
They had evacuee's from N.O. and it seems all they do all day and night is roam the halls, sit out on the street, sit in the lobby and basically do NOTHING. My husband said theres so much extra security you can barely move in the halls and security actually has GUNS, (with bullets). They get 2 mnths and then they're out if they can't pay. (cause thats all FEMA allows).

If all the people were like Susie (our Susie here) there MIGHT not be so much trouble...but you have to remember who most of these people are and where they come from. Most of'em want a handout, the handout THEY want, not whats given to them. Then you have the ones that are so grateful just to have something, anything...But it's like that all over the world. Not just here in the U.S. With t.v. the way it is these days, we see more than we actually need too...and usually MORE of the bad side than the good. It's a shame...

Our police and sheriff's dept's have to go to all the gas stations when gas is delivered, to stop people from fighting...now THATS pitiful, and so very idiotic.

I filled up today at $2.69 a gallon. A few hours later it was $2.89.

I heard on a radio show today that the governor of Georgia was asking that their public schools shut down Monday and Tuesday to save fuel. I wish our gov. would do the same. :re: It's not likely. I also heard that Georgia was dropping the gasoline tax for the month of September. Our gov. would not consider it.

Friday in Quebec City, Quebec gas jumped to $1.674 per litre which converts to $6.33 CDN ($5.41 US) for 1 US gallon. We've jumped close to 30 cents a litre since Katrina and they are expecting it to keep rising. I think I'm going to go get a scooter. But even though we are getting gouged bigtime I am thankful that we don't have to deal with hurricanes in the PNW. And my thoughts are with all of you that are now going to be dealing with Rita and all the fallout from her. Be safe!!

The big rafineries are being blamed however, some gas station owners are also taking advantage of the situation. Montreal area: $1.97/ltr at one station and $1.06 at another one yesterday.

I had to get gas on Thursday evening ...I was sitting on empty...it was $1.09...people heard it was going up to 2.00 or more ...the line up at every station I seen was around the block...I sat for 40 minutes to get gas... I had my DGS Connor in the back seat ...He has a little steering wheel that beeps signal lights and horn ...so he drives when I drive... he informed me he needed gas to...so I had to wait... alot of the people were so rude to one another...I tried to leave a space at driveway's so people could get out from parking lots... a car jumped in front of me  ... blocked the traffic trying to get out ...another car hit a car  ...just being impatient to leave the pumps...we were so blocked in as nobody was leaving any room to come and go ...I was feeling so disgusted watching people be so rude to one another...what on earth is happening to people these day's ...God I wish people would learn to think of the next guy ...we have become so self motivated. It's so sad :bluesad:

In the news, there were reports of one man chasing another with a baseball bat because he jumped in front of the line. I agree Bren. What is this world coming to? :bluesad:

More ammo for the small car v SUV arguement!

Diesel shot up here for a couple of days - there was not a shortage but people started panic buying thnking there was going to be. The major retailers hiked the price as high as they could - then 2 days later said they were going to lead the way with reducing the price at the pump - how altruistic! Thye had realised public opinion was against them and wre trying to buy back peoples good will. as if.
still at just under £1.00 a litre.. that makes it $6.7 a gallon
