Hi there, I'm a guy out on the West Coast, in Vancouver, who picked up a sewing machine yesterday with the purpose of sewing sails for kites. I took a look at what I needed, and mostly found that in a nice, cheap (30 bucks!) machine I found. The machine seems to work just fine but, alas, its lacking a manual and for a newbie like me, thats going to help, thus I have shown up here! The machine itself looks to be a late 60s Viking and the specific model is a Viking 714. Apparently, judging by the one entire post Google turned up, it was indeed made by Viking, however, its an odd model in that it was made for the now defunct department store in Canada, Eatons, thus Husqvarna/Viking has no manuals available. Below is a picture of my new baby and I am wondering if anyone may have a manual that they would part with, sell, photocopy or, point me to where I could find one. Thanks in advance! http://www.monkey-boy.com/lj/viking.jpg |

This machine has nothing to do with Husqvarna. During this period, Eatons owned the Viking name in Canada, and Husqvarna could not use it. Ironically, Eatons got their machines from White who imported them from Asia, and in later years, Viking (Husqvarna) acquired White. You won't find any distributor who will have an IB for it, but you might find something close from one of the people who make a business of copying manuals, such as Cindy Peters, Linda at Relics, or Sew USA.
