http://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/catalog_itemdetail.aspx?ItmID=K382Suiting fabric in question (http://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/catalog_itemdetail.aspx?ItmID=K382) Take a look at this fabric and tell me which of these two patterns, if either, you think it would make up well in. Pattern 1 (http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4785.htm) Pattern 2 (http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4657.htm) This fabric fits with my SWAP color scheme and it's darned hard to pass up $1.99 a yard, but if it won't make either of these suits I'm not buying it. I haven't sewn anything this tailored for myself in a long time, so I'm not used to working with the fabrics. Thanks for your input! Blessings, Barbara |

My guess is the fabric would be right for jacket (fully interfaced) or shirt but would not hold well for skirts of pants. I love silk and linen from India but other woven fabric don't hold very well. |

I agree. Lovely colour but something tells me it will stretch out of shape if not well interfaced.

A lined or underlined skirt or pants might work. The jackets are probably fine. Dorothy |

I'd be REAL careful about fabric from India..it's not woven tight, it often shrinks like theres no tomorrow and the color may run, even if you dry clean it.... My 2cents...the fabric isn't right for either pattern. But thats MY opinion. Chrys

I agree with a jacket.. buy the fusible interfacing made for jackets for and line the whole thing with the fusing... |

I agree with Chrys. I like the fabric, but I think I'd go with a more casual, sporty looking jacket style. Its tough sometimes getting fabric on-line cause you never know exactly what the quality will be

Thanks for all the input. I think I'm going to take a pass on this fabric. It's not as if there won't be other delicious cloth to buy and I'm totally busy with costume commissions anyhow. Thanks and Blessings, Barbara |

That looked like an introductory offer from the fashion warehouse and when I got one with that price on some of their fabric, they also sent swatches of the fabrics.. Did you get a swatch.?. How did it feel? Was it very loosly woven ? I know that is the only time they ever offered me any fabric for $ 1.99 a yd.. I got Black silk for that price .. they limited me to 5 yds of each fabric they offered for that price.. I never got any swatches from them that were misleading.. I noticed that one said 'suiting' and then gave the content as 100 % cotton-- to me Suiting means a heavier fabric that plain old cotton (like broadcloth) They really sent me some good looking swatches all the time I was a member.. Some Lady in my quilting class took all those swatches to make a charm quilt with.. Deliver me from sewing that many small pieces together.. Sheer torture.. to me.. everybody to their own thing, I always say.. LOL

Libby -- I made some colorful covered buttons with them once but put them together for a quilt -- wow. Dorothy |
