I am a new member, and I am just exploring to see how things work. I am not a quilt maker but after seeing such lovely quilts on the TV I thought that I would have a try. |

I thought it would be difficult to quilt, but if you already sew, it's really very easy (for me...). There are patterns, you can make up your own, you can do patchwork with embroidery...anything goes these days... www.quilterscache.com Chrys

Hi Trini. Welcome to SWN. If you are interested in starting to quilt, here is a link to some of the quilting lessons on this site. They were done by Joanne, SWN's resident quilting teacher. Once you start quilting, it's addictive...ask me how I know! If you need any help, just ask and someone will be sure to respond. http://www.sew-whats-new.com/quiltlessons/index.shtml TTFN from

Welcome Trini!! If you knwo the basics of sewing, quilting is not difficult. Can't speak for those that just jumped into quilting as I've been sewing for many years but had no trouble making the transition. Start small and work your way up and ask lots of questions. There's a lot of knowledge here and everyone is willing to help!

Would you believe that I have been visiting this site almost every night and had not seen your welcome and encouraging words. Thank you all. I do sew (after my own rules- freehand and will continue to quilt as I get the time. Actually, I have already made a runner by trying out a pattern I had seen on Simply Quilts; It looks okay, but could be neater. I was too anxious to see the completed item. With all the other help that I have gotten so far,I would not have to slave through the random quilting as I had to with this one. Thank you for the quilting sites. I do have three books on quilting which are very informative, I now have to apply myself. Leila. |

Welcome Echomandy and Native Texan. I am thankful for the encouragement from all. I have not had the time to try another quilt project but I'll let you know how the next one comes out. Leila. |
