I learned how to sew on this machine but my mother always did the bobbin. She has passed on and for the life of me I can't get it right. It just keeps knotting on the bottom. It's a atlas deluxe precision. I'm guessing it's from the late 40's early 50's.It is built into a table and has a wheel and is electric. please help,

When I saw the thread title about having a very old Atlas I thought you were posting about a book of maps :nc: LOL I was wondering why you were posting about a map book in a sewing site. Now, about your "Atlas"...you might want to check your upper threading making sure all is correct in your thread path. Be sure your thread is deep in the tension discs. You might want to set tension somehwere in the middle just to start. Usually when you have problems on the bottom side of the material it means something is not quite right on the upper threading. You might make sure that your bobbin is in properly anyway and not turned in the wrong direction. You probably need a new needle. Also, make sure your needle is in the proper way and all the way up. If your bobbin loads from the front of the machine the eye of the needle faces you and threads from front to back. If the bobbin loads from the left side of the machine the needle eye faces left and right and then you thread the eye from left to right. I hope this helps...good luck.
