It seems like it's about time everybody speak up again. So I'll ask. Wat cha makin? What was the last thing to come out of the sewing room? What is on the table now? What is next?

I just finished a beautiful shell top. It is beautiful because of the print -- nothing I did. The print is of ladies from George Barbier fashion plates of the late 19-teens. Just a fantastic find for me since I just love art deco, especially the old fashion plates.

Right now I'm working on some hounds tooth pants. Very small hounds tooth but I did get some giant hounds tooth fleece for a jacket later in the season. I've been seeing a lot of hounds tooth in ready to wear.

Then I think I'm going to dig deep in the stash and pull out the last of my batik rayon. It's red with black Chinese writing on it. The retailer said the writing says things about how cool sewing is but I'm not convinced it really says anything at all. I found some fantastic buttons to match. They look like they might be shell of some sort and are black with white Chinese writing. I decided to make this because of the buttons which, incidentally, cost more than the fabric.

I'm sewing mostly for grandchildren. The very last thing I made was a little dress for my daughter's soon to be born baby--a little girl. I'm now working on a little bonnet to match this. It's a light pink gingham. I need to get to work on some flannel pj pants for the 12 year old and I also want to make her a flannel bathrobe.

Also, I have made a memory t-shirt blanket/"quilt" for my college age daughter. This is by no means traditional and I'm not sure that I'm thrilled with the outcome to this point, but it will have to do. I fused the t-shirts (just the parts with the designs, etc. on them) to some flannel--scattered them around like you would scatter postcards or pictures on a memo board, and then did either a zigzag or decorative stitch around them. This about 3 years in length and I think it needs some width so I'm trying to find flannel to make a border with--may do some machine embroidery on that. The base flannel is white with the red, and some pink lips on it. I happen to have that design and thought it might be cute to embroider on the border as well. For the backing, I'm going to get some fleece, sew it up envelope style and then stitch/"quilt" around the t-shirts to hold it all togther. As I said, I'm not sure I'm going to be thrilled with the outcome, but it will have to do.

Someday, I'll start sewing for myself again....

I have a dress to finish and could use another pair of cords for skating in this winter. But I'd really like to finish the seat covers I started for my new car (two years ago) before it's time to buy another one. I've got the front seat backs done and the actually seat almost done. My only hold up is how to shape and fasten the bottoms so they stay snug when sat upon, are removeable for cleaning, and fashioning an opening on the side so I can access the seat controls. Sigh, I knew it was a mistake to go into the fabric store so soon after buying this car. Darn store had upholstery fabric in colours that match my car on sale. LOL

I've just finished one pair of pj's for 8 yr old grandson, robe for 13 yr old granddaughter, and 8 more pairs to go for the rest. I also said I'd make the DIL's some new robes. It's been a couple of years since I last did it and they are saying it's time. After that I need to finish a couple of purses I started and then who knows. I'm also trying to knit, crochet and crohook while watching tv, one of the above not all at once. When it's wintertime it's sewing for grandchildren. Come to think of it I also do the shorts and dresses for summer so I guess they are always the recipients of grammas sewing.

I just finished Winnie The Pooh costume for youngest GD. Made it out of the fuzzy fleece and I have to admit it is cute, cuter when on a child. Now I am starting on the blue princess I think Cinderalla? for the oldest GD. I have most of the queens costume cut out,not sure which queen she is, there are so many pieces to it, I have been doing it in sections. It will be a massive costume, and I want to finish the GD costumes first. Basically till Halloween is over with this is what I will be sewing.

Right now I decided to finish up some curtains I started that have been sitting on my sewing table :re: Then I have a Cinderella Halloween costume waiting on me and a special order EMS bag put in by DH. I have been looking at fabric I bought last winter for me & DH, so my projects will be jackets/blazers for me, casual dressy pants & tops for me, shirts for DH, robe for #3 dd, and skirt for #2 dd. Now we'll see how much I'll get done this winter. :bg:

I am finishing up all my UFO's before I get started on Christmas sewing. Nobody needed new Halloween costumes so I got off the hook on that one this year. I finished some Care Bear curtains for my four year old daughter's room. Next is Shrek curtains for my seven year old son. Then I have yds. upon yds. of fabric that I bought to make covers for my couches. We'll see if I can get those done. I also have a handful of other projects that just need a hem or some trim. I have a feeling that I will still have a few UFO's left when I have to start sewing Christmas stuff. :re:

Did pants and shirt for the youngest granddaughter, just sent off crochet baby blanket and fleece blanket for new grandson due in December. Got to looking...my stash is almost gone...at least for the grandkids. Have a couple of peices to make things for me (if I ever get the time) Need to do pj's for the youngest granddaughter...found a footies pattern for her. She is 6 but wears an 8 length and a 5-6 around...the classic bean pole. She won't wear pjs to bed, but needs them after her bath and before bead. She is extremely hot natured and sweats if she sleeps in pjs.

Project for today is to cut down king sheets to fit an extended queen in the RV. Big project for the RV is new window coverings....am looking at Roman Shades.

Need to start watching for sales to start on my stash again. Of course, can't get too big, we will be moving into the RV for full timing next year. That just means I get to go to the fabric shop more often....

Mad Christmas Knittng Woman here -Aran sweater for man to do ( back finished) 2 pairs of socks to do, doggie coat to do, a whole heap of teacosies to do....
Why is this list the longest?

Made myself 2 t-shirts on the serger for summer and the very last thing I sewed was for the competition (mini quilt thingy) I did make 2 pairs of walking socks for DD1 for Christmas.
I have a whole load of deconstructed blocks I need to do something with and a roman blind to make for the spare bedroom...how to prioritise? Who do I like the most?

Actually mostly . what I am doing at the moment depends on whether Tony has uttered thos fatefull words - don't spend any more money this month! Then I am into my wool stash and sock knitting begins again. I don't have enough of a fabric stash to make anythng of any size - I don't tend to by fabric on spec 'cos I like it - it has to be for a known project.

I'm much like Jan. I have alot of projects going all at once. I've just finished sewing a quilted wall-hanging and I am currently working on 20 Xmas blocks for a block swap. I have three customer projects waiting for me. One is replacing a zipper in a jeep window/door. Make two custom carrying cases (padded) for some drums, a motorcyle seat to be recovered in leather and a boat's binimi top, and cover to be restitched. My personal projects on my to do list is an awning (made from an old sail from one of our boats) for our truck camper. Finish a quilt for the truck camper that I have completed sewing all of the blocks together and Xmas gift giving projects, which I haven't yet decided what to do. I'm also sewing two BOMS, one the advents quilt lessons on this site and another from a local quilt shop. I just finished knitting a poncho for myself. (Yipee, something for me). I also have several knitting projects I want to get too. Oh yes, I'm also going to be teaching a needle felting class in October that I have to get prepared for.
Happy sewing/quilting/crafting
Liz

[sigh] The last thing I finished was this > > piggy-shaped laundry bag<< (http://realitycoffeeandhumblepie.com/hogwash.htm). Since then, I've been fighting with a dress for my DD. The sleeves don't fit the armscye...and it's driven me nuts. I finally forced the sleeves in, but since then I just haven't wanted to look at the dress; let alone finish it.

Can I add another to my list of finished items? A friend phoned me desperately needing a ball gown to fit the post baby body by Saturday - she had borrowed a dress and was given permission to chop it up as it was too long and asked me if I would shorten it for her.

I advised her to go to the local haberdashers and get thread - then come round to mine at 8:30 today with the bra and shoes she is going to wear and we would get to it - well it is now 9:05 and she has gone home the dress finished! Sequin underskirt and sheer over dress. The daft thing was once she put the shoes and underwear on it fitted like a dream so I didn't have to do a thing! So she has gone home with a pair of borrowed earings leaving me the wine, some chocolate and the thread!!!!!

and a boost of self confidence!

I am working on flannel pj's for my 8 and 9 year old, and for my grandson. Also, flannel sleep pants for all of the older kids, including my DH! Also, I have several blanket sleepers to finish for my two as yet born grandkids.

Since August I have finished sewing 20 blocks for the Christmas Block Swap, then made a crib quilt (for my niece's baby shower) and made a 40"x40" quilted wall hanging for the Quilt Challenge contest on this site. Now I am working on three BOM's...the advent quilt on this site and have joined two BOM's at my local quilt shop, one patchwork and one applique. Also, have some UFO's to complete...to finish quilting the BOM quilt (60"x72") that I pieced last year, need to finish quilting just the border on a twin size Christmas quilt that I started last year and didn't get finished in time to give to my sister (it should be ready to give this Christmas), have a table runner that I need to complete. Oh, I'm getting tired just thinking of all that I have to do :bg:

Wow, I feel so much better looking at this thread. I have so many things to do within this month that I thought I was just crazy. Apparently we all are. I have 2 dresses to make for a wedding, one for the flower girl and one for the train bearer(my daughter). The one for the flower girl is partly done, the bodice is complete, I have to attach the skirt and underskirt, and then add the zipper a little trim and I'm good to go. I have two haloween costumes to make, my daughter the 'punk rocker' just going to make a bodysuit type thing to wear under a skirt that was part of a costume a couple years ago, adjust some fishnet panyhose to hopefully fit her, and she's done. My son, was going to go as Legolas, but we couldn't find a toy bow and arrow, so he has modified to a ninja when a friend of mine offered her practice nunchucks as props. I have two sets of scrubs I need to make, one for hubby, black pants and black top with purple spiderwebs for Halloween. And a set for a friend. If I get the chance I want to make something for 'me' to wear for Halloween. I was going to be making more for my husband's costume, but he decided he'd just wear one of his set of black scrubs under the cloak, which is FINISHED!! I need to make a few other things too, I know I do, I just can't remember them right now. I hope I can get all of this stuff done in time, I lost about 4 days cause hubby was in hospital with a kidney stone and I wouldn't leave him there alone. I am glad to be home though and be able to sleep in a bed!! So now I have tomorrow off, once I run some errands, I plan to get busy sewing something, not sure what yet. Well, I guess I'll stop for now.

I agree Charity, we are all nuts! I just finished making up my list for my todo's for the next while. Here goes: bathing suit for baby granddaughter, bathing suit for me, fleece vest, jacket and pullover for me, 2 pairs pj's for each of 3 grandkids, Christmas vest for oldest granddaughter, skirt and top for oldest granddaughter. Knitting a pink sweater and a white sweater, also have a few toddler toques (stocking caps) to make for Christmas. Oh, and a pair of NY Islander pj's for my daughter's girlfriends little guy for his 1st birthday (still haven't figured out how she roped me into that one!). Just finished 3 jumpers, leggings and long sleeved t-shirts for baby granddaughter as well as her halloween costume and a purple blanket for her. Am finishing up a camoflage jumper for the baby, in hot pink, yellow, lime green and purple camo fabric with black trim, will make purple leggings and t-shirt to go with that. Also have burp cloths on the go for all the babies coming in the new year.
