I thought I would share what I did for a day this past weekend. I attended my first wool festival. I had a great time. I also purchased a lot of goodies for my stash and projects. I came home with more wool and angora to spin and felt with. I bought a rug loom that I can use with both yarn and material to make rugs. I purchased a 6" x6" small loom that I can make weaving projects from. I bought more knitting needles, yarn and books. They had a sheep shearing competition which was fun to watch. One of the sheep shearers was from Australia. (This was held in a small town in rural northern lower Michigan, Usa). They had great entertainment and good food. Next year, I plan on signing up for classes that they offer and spend all 3 days of the festival participating. They have nice campgrounds to camp in or a motel not far from the location to lodge at. Here is a link to their website if anyone is curious. Lamb & Wool festival (http://www.nmlw.homestead.com/) Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

Liz... I love your album... Since our felting purses.. I have gotten into the "felt" mode. I bought the book & 3 ounces of carded wool.. LO LOL I promised myself that I would learn to spin before this year is done. I will try the scarf first... since it it straight... I wish I lived near Michigan.. but .... heck 400 miles is just a hop and a skip... Keep sending your wonderful fund things for me to ponder. Karen Karen

I think I'm going to add on an addition to our house. Between the material stash, yarn and now wool rovings. YIKES! I really need to get busy and use my stash now. My next knitting/felting project is felted clogs! You knit with the roving on (us) 17 size needles, then felt the clogs. I bought a pattern at the festival to try. I really need to update my pictures on my photo site. Maybe if I get time this weekend. Too many things I want to do and too little time. Your more than welcome to come and visit me in Michigan, Karen. (or anyone else). I really need to go to NC and see exactly where it is my dad lives in the mountains. He moved there a couple of years ago (after my mom passed away). He always comes back here to Michigan twice a year, so we haven't made it there yet. Are you anywhere near Murphy, NC? Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

I have made a few felted beads... and ropes.. WOW I love using my hands like that. I need to get an album on the web up and going.. I will work on that very soon. I live in the Raleigh/Durham area.. Your dad lives near Ashville.. near the Tennessee border. That is about 300 miles west of me. I have a dear friend who lives in the mountains as well.. We are going to try to get there for the traditional Christmas festival held at the "Biltmore".. I am to understand that Asheville is the # one spot for quilters in this beautiful state of NC.. Liz.. you are my inspiration with the wool/felted Thanks Karen Karen

Yes, Karebear, " Mrs. Lap Quilting " herself lives up there.. I believe she lives outside Hendersonville.. And Asheville itself has Wachters Silk Shop-- a fabulous fabric shop.. The Asheville Sewing Guild meets there.. I get notices about their meetings every so often..
