My wonderful adorable lovely fantastic sister gave me her Bernette Deco 500 embroidery machine with a scanner and a bunch of cards for my early birthday present. I am totally excited as I wanted an embroidery machine but there was no way I could afford one right now. It's at the shop getting cleaned right now and I have absolutely no where to put it except on the dining room table until I can get my sewing room set up downstairs. I am so stoked!!!! WAHOO! Now I just have to learn how to use it. I can't wait to get at it!!!!!

What an awesome and thoughtful gift you got from your sister! It's so neat to get a new "toy" you've wanted-makes you feel like a kid again. I can tell you're very happy and excited, and I hope that your new machine will work out perfectly for you. I know I'll be looking to see pics of your new works from it soon!

Congrats, hun, and Enjoy!!!

I'm still waiting to get the machine back, the guy didn't come pick it up until Sat so I get it back Tues. Meanwhile, I've been on ebay checking out Deco cards and searching around to see what's out there. It was a challenge at first trying to figure out what cards I can or can't use, now I think I am getting somewhere, and will need to start looking for some thread. Hubby has even started drawing out floor plans for me for the sewing room to come. What a doll!
I may have to quit work so I can sew!!!!!! (Fat chance!)

Finally, I am in my new room and bath at Jon's and Melissa's in Friendswood, TX. It is beautiful: the bath is all Travertine marble and glass-doored cabinets and the room has a bed that doubles as a couch with all my pillows and fancy pillowcases and beautiful embroidered and trapunto quilt on it. I had a time getting all my other furniture (I was in a 3-bedrm apt.) given away to daughters and friends, and I sold my 6-foot oval glass and bronze dining table and six chairs. I also have my computer here and my antique white bedroom furniture, and my sewing machines. Jon set aside space in his workroom for my machines (it is next to my bedroom, so very convenient!) & sewing stuff. The doctors say I am definitely cancer-free and the pleural infusion is lessening, so that is another gift! My grandsons Brandon 7 and Zachary 6 told me they are glad I am living with them and Hurricane Rita totally missed us...2 more gifts! Love to all, MariLynntx :coffee2:

I was just curious, bridesmom, if you got your machine back from the repair shop yet. I so anxious to hear about how it works, etc. Let us know soon please!

I finally sat down with the machine and started to play. I did try to do one thing when I first got it back but didn't do any stabilizer with it so it didn't work. My MIL had about 15 spools of embroidery thread she gave me  . Then after a long talk with my sister I tried last night using stabilizer and 505 and did two pockets for a baseball type shirt I am making my grandson for Christmas. I was quite pleased with the results. I have already bought 4 cards for the machine which are coming from all over the US. This is going to be fun. My sister was trying to explain to her 22 yr old son that she had given me the machine and that I was really excited and he said ' you mean she's sewing her a** off'. Yup - that's it bang on! I am going to do a New York Rangers set of PJ's for a 1 yr old with some embroidery on it as soon as I finish these baseball shirts. Now my list of stuff to do has gotten twice as long!
