I'm just starting to teach a tween/teen class ( ) and one of the girls is very creative. She wants to make a skirt from an old pair of jean shorts. I would like to have her follow some sort of pattern (so she can see why things are done the way they are done). Does anyone know of a pattern I can direct her to? We are in a small town and the only patterns available here are Simplicity, McCall's and Kwik-Sew. Or a detailed write-up would be good. I have not tried this myself up to this time. I have created gowns from pictures but for some reason I'm kinda stumped on this one. |

http://www.masseysewing.com/project...jeans_skirt.htm http://www.lisafrank.com/activities/wardrobe.html http://www.fashion-icon.com/fall_2001/jeansplicing.html from searching our very own site! My daughter made one of these a while ago - though she went for the long skirt option and hers ended up with a fishtail type effect. She used polka dotted material for the insert. love and kisses, Jan

I was looking at Linda MacPhee's website the other night (there is another post about her site) and noticed that her Super Skirt pattern #412 has directions for making jeans into a skirt. FYI - the address on her site is in Edmonton, Alberta. Go to the patterns and search for the Super Skirt number. May be worth taking a look. Good Luck. http://www.macpheeworkshop.com/ TTFN from

it is so interesting for me to see this thread when I someone(from another Yahoo group I'm in) posted a link to a website about how to turn jeans into a skirt just yesterday. I'm sure any of the other sites will have what you need, but here is the link that was sent to me. http://www.notmartha.org/tomake/jeanskirt.html Good luck! Charity |

Thank-you soooo much for these sites!!! They're perfect . I'm hoping a few of the other girls will want to try this as well. They can be so creative . |
