I just got my sisters Bernina Bernette Deco 500 embroidery machine. She gave me some cards to borrow for 6 months which is great but I have been browsing around the internet trying to see how much cards are and I am getting bamboozled by how many different kinds there are. I know she said I get Deco 500 cards, but I also see that there are Brother cards that are compatible with White, Bernina Deco, etc. Can I use those? The place that is servicing it said I can only use Bernina cards. The manual really doesn't give me a lot of information about using other manufacturer cards. Any one have any ideas and what about places to go online for cards? We don't have a Bernina dealer in town, I'd have to go an hour to find one. Are there different cards for the Deco 600? So many questions, so confused!

You can only use the cards that are formatted to YOUR machine. If you use ART, thats all you can use. You MAY buy others, but you must have a way to convert all other formats to ART. Some CD's are multi-format, jef, art, pes, vip, etc..... but you must always use the format for your machine.... If you have a way of converting others cards, Magic Box, Amazing Box, you may be able to use other format cards. (these 'boxes' convert formats) (I myself have never used one. I use BuzzXplore software) Also you have to be careful about putting cards into your machine (if it has an internal reader), if the cards DON'T fit, DON'T force them. (expensive repair time)... Chrys

the deco uses *.pes files, as does the brother machine series. I'm 99% sure you can use all brother cards in the deco except the disney ones (that's why I got the brother). I think the deco is actually made by brother, not completely sure on that but it looks just like it! the artista machines use *.art and are not compatable with the deco. A little confusing. I used to (when I lived in Ohio)buy cards on ebay, also walmart used to carry the brother cards. good luck Jeanette
