I am stuck! Can you please tell me how to lower the feed dogs on my Kenmore Machine. I found a partial manual on the web, but it does not give me the information. Thank you ! |

Jude, If that Kenmore is one made by Janome, the switch is probably on the back of the machine right at the bottom of the free arm part.. That is where my Janome switch is.. BTW, when you switch it, the feed dogs lower immediately, and then you do your meandering.. BUT, when you flip the switch to return to regular sewing, you have to actually start sewing before they come back up... Ask me how many hours I suffered thinking I had broken my machine before I called my dealer and found this out..My manual did not tell me that part..

On some machines -- I don't know about Kenmore -- the feed dogs do not go down. Instead you snap a plate over them. Dorothy |

I've seen those. Either in Nancy's notions or Clotilde's .. I'm not sure.. Probably both.. They usually tell you what machine names they fit..

I recently read a tip on how to fix feed dogs when they don't lower. I believe it was cover them with a piece of either duct tape or masking tape. However, try a Goggle search 'covering sewing machine dogs. Could also try 'quilting tips'- would get a huge number of hits but look for lists and read quickly!! I always learn one or two things on those lists. Good luck. *~*~*~* Nancy*~*~*~* " I try to take one day at a time - but sometimes several days attack me at once."

on my Kenmore, the switch to lower the feed dogs IS located underneath the free arm. You do have to sort of "hunt" for it. I don't know how old your machine is, but if you still can't find the switch, try calling Sears. Their people are usually very helpful. |

Thanks, Dorothy, just found the plate that goes over the feed dogs and received my new manual from Sears. Thanks, everyone, for all of your information! Judi |
