I was sent this yesterday. What are your suggestions to her?

Mine are to visit the used clothing stores and re-invent or restore clothing. Also use the fabric from one garment to help create another.

I do not make much money either, so I cannot afford to purchase new clothing
or even fabrics very often.

Tell me a better way to sew and get what I need at the same time.
thank you

hmmm.....
Mary is she in Nova Scotia?
Often I will check out frenchies etc for large size clothing with good fabric that I can turn into something for me. Also I check out yardsales with the same idea, sometimes you can find some interesting deals. Also my local walmart has a $2 table which often has some nice fabrics.
Does she know anyone who does not new much and may wish to rid themselves of some of their stash? just a couple of ideas

I have purchased large dresses from good will stores and made them into outfits for my daughter. I also took apart a jumpsuit I had that I lost the jacket to and used it as a pattern to make one similar, but with sleeves. That saved me money on patterns. I don't make a lot of adult clothing, except scrubs, but I do a LOT of searching through the $1 and $2 a yard fabrics at Wal-Mart. If there is something there that I like I will usually buy about 5 yards of it, even if I don't have a project in mind. I can usually afford an extra $5 every now and then I am on a tight budget and 5 yards is usually enough to make just about anything I need to make. I also got a good deal of fabric from a friend of mine that had it stashed away forever and a day and decided she just needed to get rid of it.

Jeanette, no. She's not from here.

I think refurbishing clothing can help out too. Making a big sweater into a vest, that sort of thing. Thanks everyone for your quick replies.

I often go to the Ladies of Charity stores and buy used clothing because of the good fabric in it. I have found beautiful satin and lace things I could use for doll clothes or little girl's clothes, or as accent decorations on blouses for myself or my daughters. I have found some at garage sales, too. I found a beautiful embroidered black velvet jacket not long ago that I am going to cut up and re-use. :coffee2: MariLynntx

I have to quit playing now and unpack another box or two. MariLynntx
