Ok, I told you I would let you know how I made out after the first class.

Well, I'm somewhat dissapointed. The class was ok and informative. I figured out why my thread was breaking. I didn't realize you use a lighter thread in the bobbin. What dissapointed me though was the realization that to do the type of embroidery on my special occasion dresses, Borders, Bodice embroidery etc. That I need the Amazing box II, they suggested Design Gallery to make the patterns fit in my hoop, Mirror images, centering letters etc and A size module and a clothsetter. I can afford the clothsetter, still trying to figure out how I will come up with about another $600. for software. But won't give up.

Just have to work harder......or smarter!

Those of us who reply to 'help me's try and tell everyone BEFORE hand that this is expensive...for a hobby or for everyday use.
You NEED software, hardware, stabilizer, thread, bobbin thread, hoops, more hoops, more thread, LOTS of bobbin thread...NEEDLES by the truck load,
Up dates on the software...hardware...patterns...clothsetters, extension tables for the BIG hoops.
You NEED to keep your computer updated. It's endless...it's like the snowball
effect...once it starts the bigger it gets...
I love it...for me it's a hobby. All 5 of my machines are the TOL Janomes.
(I have no children, only a sister for family, so spending money is not a problem at my house).

If you read all the other posts and you can go back quite far, you 'd see that the same things are said over and over...If you want/need an embroidery machine, it's expensive and you need to learn a LOT. It doesn't get less expensive and the learning never stops...

Thats why we try and tell everyone to INVESTIGATE, READ, TEST DRIVE, make SURE it's what you want...and make sure you have a dealer to deal with....we don't tell you to discourage you, it's INFORMATION. :bg:

Chrys, I couldn't have said it better myself. I didn't get a computerized machine until all 4 kids were on their own & settled. That was whan the Janome 9000 came out. Boy have I spent the money ever since. Lol. Also have the 10000 & complulock. Have most all the " goodies " that go along with all of them. Mine is a hobby & stress reliever but people come into my sewing room & think I have a business. I don't want the hassel of one. Between county & state I'd be a basket case & it wouldn't be fun anymore. I'm happy & have made a lot of other happy too. Sewing keeps my sanity & thats worth all the cost. As the saying goes " If Mama ain't happy then nobody's happy?" I have lots of family but they all benefit.
