I'm going!!! One of the ladies in the Chatham-Kent Quilt Guild arranged a bus trip so we are going on Friday. I've never been before so I'm really looking forward to it.

Sounds like y'all are going to have fun and learn lots of new things. I hope you share everything you learn since I am a bit too far away to attend (and probably couldn't get the time off even if I was close enough.) Have fun!!

Bren,
I would love to meet up with you but seeing as I've never been there before, I couldn't suggest anywhere. We are leaving Chatham at 8:00 and it's likely 3 hours to Toronto but I think we are stopping once at a service centre so I expect we'll be there around 11:30. Any suggestions of how we'll meet up?

I live in Buffalo, so Toronto isn't really that far from me. Alas, I work weekends so I won't be able to go. I would have loved to have seen it and meet some of you great gals. You will have to give us a complete report, Bren, and post some of the ideas you learned....

I am green with envy. I've been a few times when I lived in TO and a couple of times since I left. You should have a good time. There's a lot to see ... and buy ... and so on ...

May I suggest a few places where you ladies can Meet? ... I'll take it as a yesL:

- The ticket booths
- The coat check area (usually right outside the entrance to the exhibit)
- There's usually a little cafe set up between the ticket booth and the coat check area
- The Convention Centre is right between the Skydome and a large hotel (can't for the life of me remember the name). The street entrance to that hotel is fairly open and uncluttered from the outside (couldn't tell you from the inside), great for meeting
- There's also an information kioske when you walk into the exhibit.

Man, Oh! Man ... I wish I could go.

You ladies have a wonderful time and bring us back some great memories. Be safe.

I Clicked on the link above and it says it's on Bremmer Blvd; that's the back entrance. The main entrance to the Convention Centre is on Front Street (at the bottom of John St. if I'm not mistaken). The hotel I referred to is on Front Street.

Well it's over and I'm broke...and very content... I had a blast...the only sad thing was I never got to meet mamahoogie...we just couldn't seem to run into each other...It was like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

I never seen so much scrap booking in my life ...I had no idea it was so big ...
I had a blast there for two day's ...I got home at 8o"clock and went back in the morning and stayed till 5:30...I Learnt so many thing's...and the people were so friendly...I meet a lady as we were having coffee and we talked each other into buying a $200.00 iron ...the euro pro...it is a fantastic iron ...I needed a good one for sewing and it will be great ...she was a lot of fun... we hung around together for half the afternoon ...helped each other spent on great thing's of course...Like I needed any help spending...LOL.
I watched Linda MacPhee's fashion show ... then bought a lot of her pattern's which I love ...and bought some of her black slinky... I meet her the next day...she's so sweet...I just love her...she hugged me ...I was in heaven ...I have always liked her...she is so spunky.
I hope slinky is not hard to sew .
I was so tired out last night when I got home...but I had to try My new project Punchneedle Embroidery ...the piece is about 41/2 by31/2 inches a house with trees ...are they ever pretty when done and framed...I never seen it before...after you Finish it you can tea stain it and dry it in an oven and it looks antique...really pretty when done.
I learned an easy way to set a sleeve in... how to do embellishing on the sew machine with the bobbin filled with fancy thread.
How to make material with thread... and how to make my own pattern for skirt...how to make a neat purse...I learned alot at the sewform which cost nothing to sit in on.
I think this is a great tip ...One area told us about using a man 's side burn trimer to ripe out stiches...it won't cut the material and is fast to ripe out stitches...I thought that was a great Idea...we were all trying it out ...and it worked great...It was a conair cost $13.00

Mary what day did you go ?

Any way... I decide to go in the one in April as I really enjoyed it ...and by then I will need a few more goodies to play with...

I wish you all could of come witn me.

BIG SIGH - I wish I could have gone too! I will go to the one out here when it comes again, if I remember when it comes in the spring. It sounds like it was just wonderful.

The show was just awesome! I loved every minute of it. Crowds, oh my gosh. Some of those ladies needed an attitude adjustment. Some people can be so rude. Anyway, I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

I went Friday afternoon for 2-3 hrs. and again Saturday for the day. I was totally inspired. I saw Linda MacPhee's fashion show too. Very cool. I talked with a lot of old friends too. Joanne from Joanne's Notions, Rosemary Makhan from the Halton Quilting Guild and some others. I missed Kathleen Cheetham, she was either teaching or on break every time I went by. I bought a pattern from Cutting Line Designs on sale, some notions and electric scissors. They are charging up as I type. They are from Dritz. I will let you know how they work for me.

Scrapbooking is just a HUGE trend nowadays. I saw Kenneth King and Kaffee Fassett too. I would love to go to the spring one too.

We stayed in the Intercontinental Hotel. Very nice and it is connected to the show via pedways. Didn't have to go outside. I saw some absolutely lovely batiks. Most of the other fabric vendors were for quilters. There was one huge booth selling tapestries.

Kaffee Fassett quilts were interesting. Not the designs but the colours and prints were really different.

I had a great day there too....but again, sorry I couldn't seem to find Bren.
It was great for me because besides sewing and quilting I also do beading and scrapbooking/card making so I ended up with lots and lots of new ideas and techniques. I did pick up some small items but didn't have too many $$ to spend but that's ok, I just wanted to see it once anyway - but once will not do it. I hope to go back in April too and again next fall.
I bought two of Linda MacPhee's patterns (as if I didn't own enough pattens already) so I hope to put them to good use. I bought the jacket with no side seams and the one to make slippers from fleece. I was on a bus trip so we only had from 11:30 to 4:45 - and I was no way ready to leave!!!!
