I am lining some cotton curtain fabric with blackout lining material, but my sewing machine will not sew this material properly. Any ideas?

what's it doing? Mine doesn't seem to have problems sewing blackout material. I put it right sides together (and I have no idea what is the right side on blackout material, so I arbitrarily decided), sewed three sides and then turned it inside out, so the right sides were facing out and then I ironed the sides. It was a straight pocket rod, so I turned the top and down 6 inches and folded the seam under and sewed a pocket.
I don't think this is a good description, but I"m not sure how to explain better.

Just FYI, the rubbery feeling side of black-out lining faces the window.

I have loops on the blackout side when I sew cotton on top. Have triexd adjusting tension - but then get VERY small stitches when sewing blackout material on top!! Doesn't seem to 'feed' properly.

Maybe you need a Teflon foot?

maybe try sewing with the lining on top? That might help.

Or maybe try putting some tissue paper behind the blackout lining, so it's the first thing on top of the feed dogs and maybe as the very top layer too.

Thanks for the tip about the tissue paper - might try ribbon as an alternative

Where do you buy blackout material? I've looked all over for it!
