I'm just tickled, hope you don't mind me sharing how good I feel. My work friend commented on how the design on the back pockets of my blue jeans looked amazingly like the fancy, loopy way I write my initials. I looked to see if she was joking; she knows I sew. But no, she really thought it was the most incredible co-incidence and had no idea I'd made the jeans.

Want to share your nicest compliment?

I think the complement that I most enjoyed was from a good friend I'd worked with at one paper and now he is a reporter at the paper I freelance for most often. He asked me, out of the blue, if I make all my clothes now (I used to make a lot but working full time and having to dress for the office I bought about half). When I told him yes he said "I thought so. You always have cool stuff on."
Coming from a man -- well that made me feel good.

I think the nicest complement I got was from my daughter. Near the end of her freshman year in college I got a letter from her. She said that she now understood why I taught her to cook, clean and do laundry.

My daughter stood up in church and said that although she didn't always agree with me she valued my parenting and knew that I was always for her.

Isn't it nice when your kids can say things like that.

When my son Tony told me that he appreciated the way I think. He said he could alway rely on me for the best advice, because I think with logic, not emotion. :bluesmile

My neighbor Melanie (across the street for the past 10 yrs) says I'm the nicest, most intelligent, most independent person with a great sense of design she's ever known. (she's never seen me mad... , I LIKE to watch Jeopardy and I can spell well and know answers 'sometimes'...I was forced to be independent as a kid...and she just likes my sense of design because I LOVE color and I'm not afraid to use it all the time. :bg: )
I think Melanie (even though she was in the AF as was her husband.) She's been in different countries, has lived a sheltered life...either that or I really AM all she says I am

You're just nuts Kath, like the rest of us! You do have a strong sense of design though from what I know - and the ability to be daring.

Have to resurrect this thread to share this joke. Was telling my family, at Thanksgiving, about my friend's comments on my jeans and the design on the pocket. And my Mum, who is 87 and does not hear well and gets things wrong sometimes, says, "yes, I always wondered, how did you get that initial design on your pockets? Does your machine fit in there or did you have to take the pockets off?" My sister and I just about died laughing. Mum has an appointment for new hearing aids for today.

My grandson was about 10 or 11 when I made him a quilt. He said, "Grandma, I love it & will keep it forever, even when you're dead!"

Longblades, that is a crackup! And Loretta, that made me all teary to think about...

OK, here's mine I guess. This Saturday before I left to teach my first sewing class my husband hugged me and said, "I am so proud of you." I felt very moved to think he valued my abilities that much.

A few weeks ago I was getting my 3 y.o. daughter to nap in my bed. She asked me to take out my knitting and knit next to her while she fell asleep. She said, "I like you when you knit." Sure enough, I started knitting and she snuggled against me and fell asleep with her hand on my arm. That was a very sweet fifteen minutes of my life.

As for non-sewing related compliments... there is a guy still living in my hometown that apparently is still telling people I have the best set of breasts he's ever seen. How awesome is that?

I use to make a lot of my clothes, But after 7 grandkids, who has time to sew for theirself. Between sewing for them and quilting, I have little time left.
But, The ladies at church are always asking me "Did you make that?" Most of the time, I have to say no. Then most of the time thay come back with, "Well--I told someone the other day that I just knew you made that."
That makes me feel really good. When my granddaughters go to church with me they come up to me and tell me how pretty the girls look with the dress I made for them. They don't even ask me if I made it.
My husband is always telling me that I am the bset thing in the world that ever happened to him. That makes me feel special too.

If ONLY I'd ever gotten a compliment about "best set of breasts" I'd think I'd died & gone to heaven!!! Once upon a time (when I was much younger!) decided to try sunbathing in the nude on a sailboat & areas that hadn't seen sunlight since I was a little girl got very sunburned & was unable to wear a bra to work. While I was telling another secretary, she looked at me & said "you can't tell it"! You made my day.

My youngest son told me when he was about 10 years old: Dad, you are the best Mom ever. LOL, I was single dad, I must have done something right!
