	| I'm not sure on which forum to pose this question so I'll do it here. Do you think there would be any demand for crocheted dishcloths? Would you ever buy one, assuming of course that you didn't crochet yourself? How much would you pay for a nice big heavy dishcloth? Would design play a huge factor? I make them while watching tv in the evening and can whip one out in about an hour and half. They do acummulate in the drawers. I've given them to everyone I know and they do last for quite a while so now I'm wondering about the salability of such an item. Thanks! I've gotten so much sewing help from everyone already on this site i thought you all would have an opinion! |

I love to use crocheted dish rags. I have made them and given them as gifts to girlfriend and they love them too~! The sad thing is that people don't like to pay for items like that so I'm not sure how they sell. People who have used them in the past would probably buy them if they didn't make them for themselves. Such a difficult question....Wish I could give you more help. mgf~ Blessings & Smiles

I have also thought about this. Here is what my brain came up with. Almost every house comes with a dishwasher now-a-days. Your market would be very limited (people who still handwash). These people tend to be thrifty. So you will need to offer them a good deal. Something like $2 each or 3 for $5. The human mind loves to buy in bulk if it will save a little money. If I were shopping at a craft fair I don't think I would pay more than $3 or $4 for one.

I've had the same thoughts about why they wouldn't sell very well. DH thinks everything I make is priceless and should be priced accordingly. I wouldn't pay more than $2 - $3 either and have thought about bundling them to offer a "good deal". Since a 1lb cone of cotton thread is about $5 and I can get lots of cloths from that I think it's merely a matter of time. I only do them in white, do you think that would be a problem. I used to do colors but I am a bleach fanatic if it's going to be used in the kitchen so they turned white anyway but do you think colors would be more desirable to others. I'm just using you all as a sounding board. My friends don't sew or crochet so they're not much help. They love the cloths I give them but I've never tried to sell to my friends. Thanks for your help! |

I think color is a good idea. I love things crocheted with varigated yarn. To boost up your sales you could call them cleaning cloths rather than dishcloths.

	| Good idea! I have one that uses a cobble stitch and has little raised bumps on one side. That would be a good name for it! Maybe put one of those in with a couple of the dishcloths for a cleaning bundle! Thanks! |

I like the ones with the bobbles on there. Those work really nice! Ya'll are right most people do have dishwashers, but there are some things that still need to be hand washed. Give them as gifts. Make someones day~ mgf~ Blessings & Smiles

I have a dishwasher and never use it... Call be stupid. BUT I really do not like using it that is my story... I do crochet but I have not made a dishcloth to date. I do purchase them from a lady in town... variety of colors.. 10 for $20.00.. I say DO IT!!!! I do think that there are quite a few people like me out there... not using the dishwasher...I mean... I also crochet dish clothes. I have never sold any, just give as gifts. I have seen them at craft fairs and I have seen people buying them. I can't remember how much they sold for.
