At the end of 2001, I posted pictures of a patriotic quilt, on this web site, that I had made for our son Tony. He was in the Army and I knew that he might be sent into battle because of the bombings that occoured on 9-11.
He was sent to Iraq three times. He was killed June 14, 2005. If you'd like to read about him, google his name, Sgt. Anthony G. Jones. Below you will find a link to my online album where you can see a top that I am now quilting. It is made in his memory from blocks that friends from another quilt web site sent to us.

Sandra~

Thanks for sharing the photos of this special quilt with the group.
I also want to thank you for posting about how to read about your son as well.
After reading about Tony I feel like I know him. :bluesmile (I read several of the stories that were listed under the search.)
I am truly sorry that your son was taken from us during this war. :USA:
I'm sure it has been difficult time for you and your family. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and I will be watching for Sgt. Tony when I pass thru those "Pearly Gates".
Blessings & Smiles~

Sandra,
I'm so sorry you lost your son. I read that he left behind a wife and young child. My heart goes out to all of you. (((Hugs and prayers))) to you and your family.

Your quilt is beautiful. If you decide to make another one, I would feel honored to make a block for you. :USA:

:bluesmile Thank you both so kindly for your post. There were enough blocks sent (50+) that I have started on a second top. I shouldn't need anymore, but I thank you for offering just the same. Quilters are the best of friends. :USA:

Sandra, thank you so much for sharing your quilt with us and being willing to tell us all of this, I know it must be so hard. I wish I could have thanked your son for what he did, but I can thank you and his wife for his service. He did a great and good thing. Lots of love and tears coming from here in Texas. OH, I wish I could give you a great big hug and tell you how proud I am of you, you raised a good boy.

Sandra,
I was going to send you a note by snail mail, but , of all things I cannot find your address, now.. I keep everything in an address book, but I outgrew the old one and in the transfer , I lost 4 addresses and yours was one of them.. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers.. Your quilt is beautiful, and I know it will bring you comfort in the future.. Please let us know of anything we can do.

Sandra, I am so sorry for your loss, but so thankful to Tony and all the others who have dedicated their lives to protecting us from the terrorists. I read the article in The Messenger so I know it is very comforting for you to know that Tony is in Heaven and you will be with him again one day. Tony sounds like a beautiful person so it is fitting that you have a beautiful quilt in his honor, and also that he gave you two wonderful grandchildren.

God bless all of you.

Thank you ladies. Yes, Tony was very special. I'm not just saying that. He had a huge heart. We have a picture with him and Iraqi children that flocked to him. This quilt is the first of two. The second top is almost finished. I'll post pictures of it too when it is finished. Libby, if you still what my address, email me at <email address removed for privacy> . :USA:

Sandra,
My heart goes out to you, Tony's wife and child. He paid the ultimate sacrifice for us all to leave free here in the US, and want you to know, I honor him and respect him for that. Thank you Tony~~ We are retired military and have a son in the military, and I know any time he could go there as well. It frightens me, but I know thousands of other momas feel that same way.
I could not view the quilt due to the high volume of traffic it said. It's great you posted here so we could see it. I look forward to when I can see it.
I am sure it is beautiful!
Hang on to your memories and rely upon Our Lord to see you thru this difficult time. He can give the Peace that none other can.
Hugs to you, and thanks again for sharing Tony with us~ I will remember him always.
