I figured this hasn't been asked for a while (or at least that I noticed). But, I'm curious anyway..... I'm finishing up a bunch of applique blocks for a swap and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do next. I'm thinking about making overalls for my boys or maybe some toys for them. I've had several things I've seen recently that looks interesting, I keep getting all sorts of ideas. Of course first I plan on actually cleaning my sewing room, that's my theory (I have yet to actually stick to it each time I plan to clean the room).
So, what are ya'll up to?

I'm waiting on some measurements for the grandkids pj's. I made myself a robe today but it didn't turn out like I wanted. I think it was just the material I decided to use was too heavy for Florida winters. I'll probably send it up north for Christmas. After the pj's I think I want to do some table runners and placemats for Christmas gifts. I have a lot of things in the sewing room waiting on me, it's always just about the mood. I have a lot of purse material to be made up so that's always a possibility.

I am making a denim rag quilt for my husband. He travels a lot with work and stays in his travel trailer. It can get pretty cold in some of the south, where he spends most of his time. So, after seeing a couple on here, I decided to make him one, I found some old work jeans of his and have some from the boys that they have out grown. I even hit up coworkers and family for their old jeans. I am backing it with some $1.00/yard flannel I found at Wal-mart. I want to give it to him for our anniversary, which is on Halloween, so I had better get cracking! :nah:

A large amount of knitting - an Aran sweater(pullover) to finish, 2 pairs of socks and a dog jumper yet to knit- along with sundry other items...
the last advent block to finish then sashing and backing. A whole load of tea cosies to make formy women friends for christmas. I have a t shirt pattern I have been meaning to try since summer....
And I just started teaching a 10 year old girl to sew. She is making Christmas gifts- her first lesson and she made a very creditable 9 patch block pot holder. This girl is so sharp she understood everything I said first time and the reasons behind everythng..she is a joy to teach.

Actually I have put my sewing machine to the side for a while as I am crocheting 80 bookmarks for the Pilgrims on the "Walk to Emmaus" that I am working next month.
I did go to a really nice church garage sale and picked up 17 quilt patterns for $1.50. It was a great find!
There is even a pattern for appliqued frogs!! (for a jumper!)
Can't wait to try those out!

Oh, I'd love to applique frogs - I love frogs! I just finished two sweat suits done with a baseball style shirt and sweat pants for my 4 yr old grandson, I have just cut out the NY Ranger pj's for my daughters girlfriends baby, am blanket stitching a blanket, blanket stitch trimming an outfit for the granddaughter so I can sew it up, have 6 pairs of Christmas pj's on the table waiting their turn, and a red jumper for the baby granddaughter cut out, plus working on a sweater for the baby which is a 1 yr size so I have loads of time for that being she's only 6 wks old!!! I think I need to quit work, it cuts into my sewing time!

I'm going to make curtians for the hall window upstairs. I bought some beautiful home dec fabric. It's yellow with palm trees all over it. I figured when I come out of the bedroom in the morning it will be more cheerful to look at sunny yellow and palm trees than what is really happening outside this winter.

I finished one fleece zip up for #2 dd (KS 2638 (http://www.kwiksew.com/Patterns/P2634_2655/2638.cfm)) in white (her request), have another cut out to sew up in navy. I have fleece lounge/jogging suit in flames for #3 dd (KS Sewing For Children) cut out to sew up. Also have a robe (KS 2654 (http://www.kwiksew.com/Patterns/P2634_2655/2654.cfm)) for #3 dd in fleece with cotton trim cut out to sew up. So these are my present to sew items :bg: Then of course there is the list in my mind of my next projects  #3 dd also added a Daisy Kingdom coat (http://www.simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=4515) that she 'has to have' & I do have a gym type bag especially designed for an EMS bag for dh I need to finsh soon, but am waiting for delivery of my roll of zipper to make your own size.

I have just recently finished making new cafe curtains for my kitchen window. I'm presently working on matching coordinating valance panels, but I have to get my other half to take one of the end panels down so I can trace it and measure it. It's a triangular panel with a ruffle, and I've never made one before. I'm also working on making table runners for us and my daughters house for Autumn, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Next month I move on to Christmas stuff---can someone please slow the clock down a bit? :whacky:

I have a train bearer dress to finish for my daughter by next Saturday, I fianlly got it all cut last night. I plan to get sewing today. I have a Halloween print scrub for my husband to make, preferably before Halloween. I have my daughter's costume and my son's costume to make and if I have time and $$ left I need to make some additional pieces for my husband and something for myself (I don't see that happening). I also have to finish up the ring bearer pillow/box for my friend's wedding next Sat as well as her guestbook, her garter, the flower girl basket, and hopefully a small purse if there's enough fabric. After that I still have another set of scrubs to make for a friend, and an entire new list of projects/ideas to go from there. Well, I should probably get off here and get busy then.

is housecleaning! Yes, I know it is a dirty word, but I can't stand the spider webs, dust balls and dog hair, anymore. I just haven't been home to get the cleaning done. It seems when I am home, I have lots of sewing to do. I finished the 20 blocks for the Xmas block swap. I also made a wallhanging for the quilt contest. I have some of my customer's sewing in progress, that I hope to finish this weekend. Then I plan on starting my advent block for the quilt lessons here and I'm two months behind in a BOM from a quilt shop. I also need to finish a quilt I started for our truck camper. Oh well, soon the weather will be changing and I will be hibernating, then I will get a lot of my sewing done.

Knitting, (which is portable). I take it to work with me, also on my sailing and camping trips. I have completed a poncho and a pair of socks. I'm going to start knitting clogs to felt next. I also needle felted a pumpkin for a halloween decoration and a wall hanging with fall leaves.

Well, I should get back to my cleaning.
Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

I am on a flannel pant and pj marathon. I haven't sewn all week,, due to a new grandson born last Sunday. His mom is only 19 and had a section, so I have been there every day while my son is at work. He is beautiful with a head of silky black hair. Even sewing can't compare to sitting and holding a newborn! God really blessed us, since my DIL has ovarian CA nad was told she wouldn"t have children. Well, she's in remission and a very happy mom!

Wow what a blessing! I agree that I would rather hold my newborn grandson than sew. You'll have plenty of time for that when she's back on her feet. You're a good MIL!

It is fun reading about everyone's projects. It helped me remember that last year I did a lot of sewing, and that made me feel better because I felt like my sewing machine was just gathering dust.
I am taking apart a bought Hallowe'en costume and re-doing part of it. Although it will be a fair bit of work, I couldn't have bought the fabric for the price of the costume!

LauraM - I just love that Daisy Kingdom coat !!! I'd like one in adult size please!

Patty2, Congrats to you and your family on the birth of your new grandson! You are so right about him being a blessing, may God be with you all in the years ahead and prayerfully keep your DIL cancer-free forever!

SailorLiz, are you sure you're not talking about MY house?! LOL My vacuum clearner is dying and it is an all day chore to try to vacuum a living room, hall and 2 bdrms now! I've told the other half that I'd like to get a new one from Santa this year.

I usually work weekends, but I'm off today-tummy is giving me problems, so I think this will be a sit-and-be-quiet day...sewing! Yyyippeee!! :bg:

I usually have several projects going at the same time....right now I am making a pr. of hunting pants for my grandson (I line them with fleece) and am making a 'trench' coat for my husband. I just finished making a 'nice blazer type jacket for myself.... and.... when we had our family reunion at my brothers in W VA, we were riding one of those trains (at Durbin). Well....it was warm so I took it off and laid it on the bench, for some reason I turned around and there was a cinder burning a hole in it!!!! Burned through the outer fabric and the linning. Needless to say I was a little upset. But I repaired it with a little patch that looks like it is supossed to be there. It was in the back close to the neckline but not up close enough for the collar to cover it when folded down. Looks good now

I have been doing place mats, napkins for gifts for Christmas. Besides family and friends I usually give something to neighbors each year. I started a quilt this week and even though quilting is not my favorite sewing, I do hate to throw out scraps of material. I also need to make fleece ponchos for three people so from now until Christmas I should be busy. I also have new neighbors moving in next door so I need to make a little something for them to welcome them to our neighborshood. I love retirement!!!!!!

I just finished a dress, Simplicity 5226 and two shirts, Simplicity 5537 for our grandson and his cousins. I found 'Bob the Builder' fabric for the boys and a lovely 'folk art' loped-ear rabbit fabric for the dress. Now to get them off to St.Louis ;) Time to inventory my Christmas stash. Enjoy the day.

UFOs, too many in the pile right now, I was cleaning out the collection of bags and bins etc and found, a nightgown half done(finished it on sun yahoo!) a vogue suit I cut out after I had lost the baby wgt from my daughter (she's 6 and has 2 younger brothers :nervous: ), a couple of knit shirts and a jumper for said daughter (should still fit she's kinda short). I also cleaned up all the bits and pieces (scraps, fabric leftover from projects) and dropped them off at the daycare for craft time. But... I'm now down to 4 rubbermaid bins so I have an empty? fabric shopping time?

I have just finished making pants and a sweater for myself and plan on making more of my own clothes. Since I've started working full time sewing, I made a concious decision to work on customers monday-friday, and to do at least one project for me/home on Saturdays and Sundays... I always sew for everyone else, alterations, dressmaking and window treatments.

I do have to make my Dolly Parton Costume soon too. Does anyone know where I can get a Holster for a large man?...my husband who doesn't usually dress up for halloween is willing to go as a cowboy.....Every gun holster I've seen is child size.

I just made a couple diapers using the pattern from the last issue of Ottobre magazine and they turned out great. Instead of using fabric for the outside layer I used PUL so they are all-in-ones. For the next ones I make, I won't put the soaker pads between the inside and outside layers, it takes too long to dry. I'll just attach it on the outside of the inner layer across the top back so it will be somewhat loose in the dryer. I also bought the plastic snap tape to put on the next batch (the tape is pretty expensive though!). I'm very frugal and recycled some 80's peach towels for the soakers I had up in the cupboard and flannel receiving blankets. Great fitting diaper pattern for my girl and not too bulky.
I don't know why but I have always had a thing for cloth diapers, even before I had my own kids I went into business making them for a while. Talk about boring though, mass producing anything is not for me I quickly learned.

I'm working on some pants in the Beginner Garment class i'm taking. Bought some knits that i will be making into tops - we'll see how it goes; i understand knits are a little tricky.

Also - will be making a t-shirt quilt out of bf's running/sports t-shirts once he gives up enough of them.

Well, finished the aran sweater - mostly through the dog sweater as well - it is the weirdest shaped thing I have ever made - I am just not used to knitting for non humans. Doing the ribbing now and should have it finished this week. Over Christmas I have a wedding dress to make - nothing much really....no idea of pattern, style, colour, measuements yet... just that my daughter will be wed in May and will be at Uni all Spring term so need to get as much done then as possible...heigh ho!
My pupil made a really nice fabric covered padded picture frame last week - this week we are going for a simple block to applique onto a cushion. She is a star.

I found some beautiful corduroy and am making myself a nice warm shirt. This stuff looks like it was pieced together. It is striped brown -- tan -- plum -- dark blue. The stripes are about an inch wide and there is a visible -- but not too loud -- line of zig zag stitching at each stripe so they look like they are pieced together at each stripe. They actually are sewn together where the repeat is and the blue meets the brown. It wasn't expensive but it looks like it either cost a lot or took a lot of work to make it look this way. The colors are fantastic and I whipped out a pair of plum and a pair of brown pants to wear it with (only one at a time though).
I stumbled on the fabric somewhere -- Joann or Hancock Fabrics I think -- but it could have been in the city.
Then I found a great patch pocket design in Clotilde's Sewing Savvy (Sept. 05) that I am going to put on it.
I'm really pleased with this thing.

I'm about to make a new costume for the Ren fest this year. We're gonig the end of November and pretty much all of my costumes, barring my maternity one, are warm weather. And, while I love the fabric and how my maternity costume looks, I don't really want to go looking like I'm pregnant when I'm not, it just would not be fun.
I'm trying to decide what I'm going to do. I'm debating between doing some kind of peasant outfit with lots of layers, or try something with velvet and do a highborn lady's outfit. So far when I ask my friends I get no response really other than both those would be really cool. :re:
Ick, I just found something from one of my boys encrusted on my neck. I'm to take a shower now.

Everything I had cut out is now finished and mailed off to GC in Ohio except for a robe I cut out of some cheap flannel to make before the real stuff gets here. After that I really need to get busy on the robes for ds and dil. Hopefully then I will get going on round two of pj's to take to Ohio for Christmas. In between that I'm supposed to go to my first serger class and make a lap quilt.

Ladies, you are putting me to shame ... Oh well :-)

I just finished my friend's quilt; it was for his 50th birthday ... back in March. He has seen the top on his birthday and nothing was ever mentioned since then. I'm waiting for another friend to come back from her cruise and we'll have him and his roommate over for dinner.

Covered an ottoman and made Halloween placemats for a friend. She will get them for Xmas as well as a nice candy jar I found at a discount store. She asked for the placemats last month and never said anything afterwards.

Big sale at Fabricville today so ... found 3 wonderful patterns and just had to get matching fabric. Beautiful Oriental brocades at $9.50/yard (that's C$) so I just have to make 2 of those (one with black background and the other gold background), and mustard color velvet like embroidered fabric so ... another jacket in the making. I will probably put paper to fabric over the weekend.

The patterns are: Vogue 2771, McCalls's M4782 and M4843 (have yet to get fabric for the latter). Unfortunately, I look nothing like the models but I'm just as nice ;-)

I hit the fabricville sale too :bg: found some really cute printed corduroy for a dress from last years Ottobre for my 6 year old. I also found a rotary cutter with a guide so I can just trace off the patterns and use the guide to add my seam allowance!! yahoo, will save so much time, I also picked up a bunch of fleece to make scarves with embroidery for all the nieces and nephews. Also picked up flannel for xmas pj's for the kiddies, they get a new pair every xmas eve. Found flannel with fighter jets on it for the 8 yr old, very cool!

Yesterday I made a curtain for DD's front door & PJ's for my sister. today I made PJ's for DGSs the ones they keep here were getting small & they will probably stay tonight when their parents are bowling. I have a shirt cut out for DGS & a fleece hoodie for DD. Youngest Dd wants me to get some shirts made for her. She is tired of always wearing T-shirts. YES!!! If I get the sewing done that I have cut already that will be Tues & Wed. projects. I am also doing a comforter for older DGS. I found a print with dragons & castles @ Walmart for $2yd. I sandwiched it with batting & a solid colored back & I am stitching around the different pictures. I thought it would be simple but I have trouble staying focused for more than 4 or 5 outlines then I start going crooked so I stop & go back later. I think I only have about 10 more then I have to find a binding.I promised to him in August but he is being understanding since he is 7 & he knows what it takes to keep his little brother happy all day. Hopefully I will be done before Thanksgiving.

I did it! I got DD's Fleece done, Long sleeve T-shirt for GS It was too big but it fit his older brother. I made a 5 for the 4 YO, It fit the 7 YO so I made a small 4 for 4 YO with the extra piece of fabric. Made Grandpa happy it had Bulldozers on it. (husbands business is driving a bulldozer). I got the shapes all stitched on the comforter now I have to find just the right binding. I am so happy to be sewing again for the last year or more I have had trouble getting motivated. I know this sounds like a big list but I cut everything out last week one day while GS was on the computer. With my serger they are all fast stitching projects.( about 1/2 hr for each shirt). I have found I lose weight when I sew a lot because it is hard to snack with my hands on fabric.

I did make a big pan of scalloped potatoes & ham for dinner today. That should last for a couple of days leftovers. I do love to cook for my family. The problem is they all have such different tastes that they are hard to please. High Schoolers have bowling after school Monday & Tues. & since I am the asst.coach I am at the bowling alley with them until 5:30 those days so we either eat there or left overs/pizza those days. I try to make a full meal at least 3 times a week with enough planned overs for the other days.
It works unless They all come home & DD(2) likes to take left overs with her for lunch the next day. So sometimes I have to resort to frozen meals or take out if I am busy. I don't know how I did it last yr. when I was working 25 hrs. a week too.

Ohgal...those burp towels are really cute by the way!!!

Question...I have no idea...but how much to embroidery machines run for? If I wanted to do just a name? I guess I shall start looking online!!!
It cost me about $6.00 to get a name embroidered at a shop here...but just curious!

$6.00 sounds like a great price to me.. Here, a name or 3 letter small monogram runs $20.00.. Highway robbery, wouldn't you say ?? Or that is the price at the embroidery shop up at the strip shopping center near me.. I do without til one of my friends has time to do it for me at a price I can afford.. :bg: :bg:

I am in the process of cutting out after steam shrinking it, Boucle jackets for my DD's and DS's GF. They are each getting a short cropped fitted one and a long coat type one for Christmas. I found some fantanstic silky and brocade to line these with. Now I wish they wanted more than pinks, not my favorite color, but seems to be theirs. Out of the scraps I will make the DGD some skirts to match mommies jacket. I have never worked with this fabric before, but it is beautiful looking and I know is popular for jackets. I am looking for a quilted brocade to line one of the jackets with, but I need one with black and pink in it to match the Boucle.

I just finished this for my sister. I know...the edges aren't straight :bluesad: Some day I will get it right. I also tried to put some fancy machine stitches in the corners, but it wasn't working the way I wanted it to, so I stopped at two.
Anyway, the design is from an Australian crafting magazine. I thought it was really cute, so I made one! :re:

I'm not a quilter but it looks pretty good to me. Cute design! I'm sure your sis will love it. The book is really cute. I did one from panels that I bought and just had to sew it together with the batting. That was easy enough. Is this a kit or panels?

Nice to meet you Collinst70; your projects sound very nice and having the kids involved is even better. Good for you ... and them.

Donna, what crooked edge??????? (don't point at your fault and if someone mentions anything, just ignore them).

My friend's quilt is finished, I mean really finished. I had to wash it after it was done; the cats loved it too. I will give him his present very soon. Started a quilted jacket for my cousin, I want it finished before Xmas and would just love to give it to her as a present. She wants to pay for it and by waiting til Xmas will give me an excellent excuse to say no. There's a crazy sale at Club Tissus tomorrow so I'll go after work and pick up whatever I need to finish it. Then, I'll get started on the jackets. I left the fabric on the counter so I wouldn't forget about it.

Welcome CollinsT40-your projects sound great! I bet your children are very excited to have finished up a project! Great that you are getting them involved.

Summer-those jackets sound great and I'm sure they will be wonderful when done.

Donna-who are you kidding? Crooked edge???? Where????? You did a great job!!! I really like that, now I'm feeling inspired to do something along those lines for my sister. However, still have 3 quilts to finish up before Christmas as well as a duvet cover.

Just finished up 3 pairs pj's for the grandkids-well, almost-still have to put in elastic in 2 of them and finally finished up the wall quilt I was hand quilting for my daughter. At least with some of it out of the way, I don't feel quite so pressured.

I started a tote bag with some fancy applique, flashy pockets and cute buttons. The decorative part is finished and looks good if I do say so myself -- and so far I'm the only person that has seen it so I have to say it myself. Now all I have to do is get it put together.
And I have to figure out how I am going to finish the one exposed seam.

Hello to all of you, I'm a newbie! I found this site while looking for the instructions on using a blindhemmer foot! lol My sister has a new home and she's in the process of decorating, recovering some furniture and recycling various pieces to other parts of the house. Shabby sheek! lol We took a part a chair cushion(s), cut out the material and now we're trying to figure out how it goes back together! trial and error! lol The original one was made by my Mother and it had piping on it, so after checking out various sites and this one on piping, I've got that going now! Just taking a break from sewing for a few hours! Hoping and praying that it all comes back together! :nervous: hardee har har

Good night!

Welcome to the group Auntie Pam. Looks like you're keeping busy. Please give more info for your chair cushion (I'm just soooooo curious), fabric, colors, design, what type of chair etc etc etc.

Dorothy, the totebag is lovely. Yep, I can see it. Sounds like there will be a nice look and texture to it.

Casandra, we all have to choose our battles don't we!!!!

I should be able to finish my cousin's quilted jacket today. It takes triple the time to prepare the fabric than it takes to put it all together. First things first: weather is just gorgeous so I'm heading out for a walk.

My DS called me to tell me he needed a black vest for work. When? Two days before he told me (this is a 26 yr old!!). So I go to the store, get fabric and a pattern, sew it up, get it to him within two days!! Proud mom! THEN he tries it on - well we almost died laughing. He's 6'2 and very long waisted. The points of the vest barely came to his belly button!! He wanted to know if I could lengthen it - its a lined vest! I said, yes of course, I can put a faux fur trim around it! That set my daughter off!! So, back to the store yesterday and late last night I cut out another one, and had to add 5 inches to the length of the thing. I was so concerned with it being large enough going around him, cause he doesn't like his clothes fitted, I never even thought about the length. Oh well, what can you do!

Some months ago I bought a few old wool sweaters at the Goodwill, to use as bedding for the many stray cats we always seem to get. One was so nice I decided to wear it but it is a very heavy sweater and way too hot for me. So I put a separating zipper all the way down the front so I can open it up. I was very lucky to find a zipper length that fit just right and the sweater has a proper rolled over bit at the neck which conceals the top of the zipper. I'd wear it skating tonight but it is supposed to go up to 15 degrees here, way too hot for that sweater, even in the arena. When is it ever going to snow?

So I read the post about the 15 degrees and I thought wow, that's really cold, but then I realized you meant Celcius, and had to some readjusting. I'm almost finished with my Rennaissance Festival costume, it has lots of layers in it because we're supposed to be getting in a cold front this week, and all of my previous costumes, were somewhat warmer (read for 80-90 degrees F, and that just doesn't work for 30-40 degrees)......
Oh, and my boys are almost crawling! Drake is trying really hard, and he scoots all around and it's really fun to watch, I have the feeling that when his grandparents come down for Thanksgiving they'll be very surprised!

Yeah, a month ago I had them up here with me in the sewing room, and I hear this banging noise. I turn around and Peter has managed to get my scissors and is banging them on the floor with the biggest grin on his face. That did remind me that I need to change my habits and actually put stuff away, but I still need to work on that. I think that will be a lifelong struggle.

DMoses your sisters quilt is soooo cute!
You ladies are working on so much I feel like such a slacker...lol! Now that my hooded towel is finished I want to start something else but I am not sure what. I guess I better head to the store and get some burp towels and start experimenting with that. You all have given me motivation now :bolt:

I would love to make some flannel pj's for my son and neices and nephews but sounds like a lot of work for a beginner. For those that make them....is it difficult for a beginner like me???

Summer Rain, PJs are the best for beginners. There's a lot less details and the finishing touches are a lot easier not to mention that flannel can be very inexpensive. Just don't forget to prewash as it shrinks quite a bit.

Thanks, summer_rain.

As for the pjs, Dede is right...pyjamas are great for biginners. The pants are especially easy, and the tops are a great way to learn some basic construction techniques(depending, of course, on the style of the top). If you are making several pairs, I would do one up completely to see how it is put together, then do the rest all together...you know, do step 1 on each, then step 2, etc. I'm having a brain block at the moment and can't for the life of me remember what that is called! :whacky:

Over the weekend I finished the Thanksgiving table runner for my FIL's table. Next up is trimming some adorable flannel fabric a co-worker found for her nephew-she wants me to make it in to a blanket for the little guy for Christmas. Then I get to start on the gifts for the family, most flannel blankets for the little guys and fleece blankets for the bigger kids...THEN a new shirt for my wonderful man! Whewwwww..... :whacky:

Well all my holiday sewing is done, all the decorations are up, all the presents wrapped and under the tree. I put up over 25,000 lights out side this year and the house has Christmas in every room. Some one suggested on the boards to make holiday shower curtains, I did and I love them. This board is soooooooo nice. Happy Holidays all!

I am washing, ironing and organizing all my fabric for the stash challenge that will be starting after the first of the year. While the fabric is washing I have been finishing up UFO's, making fabric bowls for Christmas gifts, hanging towels for my kitchen, fabric books for the kids, and I am in the planning stages of a bias cut blouse. Oh and over the Thanksgiving break The kids and I tiedyed 20 shirts and 8 towels. I know this sounds like a lot but I always sew like this. I get everything prepped for sewing and then I just sit down and sew.

All of you are making me feel guilty. All I have done is make a quilted purse for my mom. A quilted tote bag for gift exchange at work. Now I have one more thing to make for gift exchange at work. Work is getting in the way plus I have been sick for a couple of weeks with a cold.

Hi nascarflipper. Welcome to the sew-what's-new forums.

Wow, 10 sets of placemats!...you've been busy. I wish I had had the sense to start my sewing early. Mine have to be sent in the mail, so if I don't get going on them, they won't reach their destination in time. :bolt:
Take care,

Made 4 tea cosies - and finished the pink wig - I tried it on and I looked like I had the Institutional haircut - you know the one from the Home where they cut your fringe waaaay too short. I am going to have to unknit it and try again. Mary Quant eat your heart out!

I'm finishing up a tunic top for myself before I make my husband some sweat pants to wear around the house. He is getting cold sitting at his computer in his under pants!

...because of recovering from my operations, constant problems with my computer, moving from Bastrop to Friendswood, unpacking boxes, figuring out where to put things, whom to give them things to, more computer problems, and a few other little things like that! But I am finally settled, have curtains up, computer is fixed, etc. Melissa and I decided to leave my books in boxes in the garage until after the new year and then get them on the shelves at our leisure. We are also leaving all my boxes of fabric there, too, since they are accessible if I really need something from them. There are 2 things I really have to do: finish the 2 half-done quilt squares for Lisa's quilt, and make a simple robe from some white lace fabric I have for 2-year-old Michelle. I bought her some white angel wings in October on sale at JoAnn's. She loves to dress up!! I will work on that today, as their Christmas party and program is next Tuesday. MariLynntex

Well, I started to post this earlier, but then got distracted by all sorts of things (you know the sudden remembrance, OH I NEED to do that). I finished my Ren Fest costume, I need to get my husband to take a picture of me in it (being the camera bearer, there are no pictures of me in it). I've got two quilts done most of the way. By the by, a cool quick quilt, grab several handkerchiefs, sew them together, get some batting and there you go. Quick and easy. I just have to finish tying them.
Now, I'm off to finish (read start) my other Christmas projects for my niece (matching pajamas for her and her doll, and some more doll clothes).

Well, I have several projects going at once. I can get bored with just one project.
I just finished installing a new zipper in a jeep door window. I also sewed a stethoscope cover for my daughter who works in a hospital. I'm working on an applique vest to wear for my Xmas party here at work on the 21st. I've also been spinning yarn and knitting a lot of xmas presents. I've completed 5 Xmas dishcloths and 5 hanging dishtowels to match. I've completed a dog sweater for my dog, Molly. I just finished knitting a belt for one of my daughters. I have more projects to complete before Xmas gets here. I was hoping to sew my Xmas quilt from the block swap I pariticpated in done in time for this holiday, but I don't see that happening now.
Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

Wow! Where do y'all get your ideas of what to sew?? It's been too long since I've sewed and am still using old pillowcases to practice my blind hem stitch. The sewing gene skipped my mom and I don't know of anyone since I've moved that knows how to sew. So I'm just taking my time and not trying to do too much advanced stuff so I don't get discouraged (which is what happened last time). I've already done the basic pull-on skirt. Maybe I'll try the flannel pj's that everyone says are pretty easy. My 2 1/2 year old dd is fascinated with zippers and keeps pulling off her one-piece flannel pj's during the night. Then, of course, the pull-ups comes off. Waking up to a naked 2 1/2 year old in a wet bed  isn't a great way start to the new day. Maybe I'll try to sew up a pair for her.

ideas--they flow and they flow, and sometimes I have to ignore some of them, just so I can concentrate on the one I'm working on and get through a project! No lack of sources out there--online, magazines, in the stores. I'm full of, "Oh that's nice, but I'd make it different than that...hmmm"

I just read SailorLiz's post, and I can be like her at times. I might have 2-3 projects all going at once, depending on my mood! :whacky: I've just finished the Christmas runners for our coffee table, now I have to cut out and trim up the new flannel blanket for my grandson's first birthday this Saturday! Tomorrow I run out to get his Elmo gifts, cake mix, wrapping papers and new batteries for the digital camera. Then I get to start on the table runner for my "secret Santa" recipient at work-her fabric came today by UPS! THEN it's on to the new fleece blankets for my college-student step-sons!!! Can I wilt now?! :nervous:

The ideas are everywhere...the problem is remembering them when I need them, and keeping my focus! :whacky:

Mozeyrn- I had a friend whose daughter did the same thing and she would put on her pajamas with the zipper in the back so her daughter couldn't get them off. That worked until her daughter convinced her sister to help her out......

Well I was just all full of energy today. I finished a hat scarf, a fringe hat and a fringe scarf, for my granddaughter and I cut out bottoms to pj's for my niece and started putting them together. They are all out of fleece. I was having so much fun. I had forgotten how much fun it could be to sew. Cant wait to finish the boys vest. :bolt:

Dorothy - had to laugh at the picture I could envison of hubby sitting at the computer in his underwear - too funny - or too scary?? I didn't do anything much today except wrap presents. I had to figure out what all I have boughten/sewn, etc and get it organized. So there is stuff all over the living room now cause that's where I decided to put it all. Tomorrow, the camo shorts will be done, then onto the drapes and done Christmas stuff. And I'm off for the next 9 days. Hooray!

still working on getting 2005 quilts finsihed!!
fell behind late 2005 while sewing up other projects for Christmas

I have one top that I need to pin and quilt, another that I am working on now.. the top should be done sometime this week.. (knock on wood)

and another, a BOM quilt which has 12-12.5" blocks and 12-8.5 blcoks. all the blocks are finsihed up. I just need to add shashing and boarders and that top will be finished.. then I need to getbusy quilting the 3 quilts..

I am debating on taking two quilts to a quilter since I do not have a long arm machine.

Plus I am starting a a new bom quilt.

once I can catch the patterns back on sale at Joanns I will sew up some new stuff!! : )

but right now I am stuck on quilting

I just finished my daughter's skirt. It was an Xmas gift. We had a funeral and other stuff that has kept me busy. Now I am ready to cut out a pair of pants for myself. I want to whip those out and cover the cushions in the chairs in my sewing room.

I need to do buttons and buttonholes on two jumpers for DGD. I've cut out a pink and black boucle that I found on sale for $2 a yd. That's for 8 yr old DGD. It's really cute with fringe all around the jacket and skirt.
I'd like to make one more jumper for the other DGD, to match the ones I made for her sister. Then I just don't know where to go from there. So much fabric! So many ideas!!

Hee hee..... I have SO MANY baby showers coming up that I'm basically just cutting out flannel squares and making oversized receiving blankets galore! As big as I can make it, so if I have a yard, a yard it is, if I have 45", then that's it's size. I think tonight I'll take a break and sew up some curtains real quick and get a dress cut out. My husband is going to a movie, so I'm going to get a chance to do some real sewing.

* Valentine's Day boxers for my friends' husband (she comissioned)

* Quilt block for my mom's pastor (all her church ladies are participating, then piecing it, then having it quitled). Inloves 18 tiny fusible-cum-satin-stiched applique pieces. Excuse me, I just felt a little vomit in my mouth. You know, that project you agree to, then regret?

Then I'll be "allowed" to make this:

I finished the cutest Butterick jacket for my high school dd. Along with the jacket I made a fitted skirt with pleats in the back, a billed cap and matching purse that is embroidered front, back and on the strap. Right now I'm making some Valentine's Day sucker covers for the 5th grade class that she mentors and then I'm going to start another suit and some gauchos. I'm excited about making the gauchos. It is a refreshing return to normal after making all the attire, veil, gown, train, brides maids' dresses, flower girls' dresses, vests, bow ties, etc for the NON-WEDDING. I finally have everything off the dress forms and hung away so I don't have to dwell on it. Whew!

I making comforters for people to tie at our Feb. 10 Family World Relief night at church. I talked, bribed, begged (you get the idea) people to help, and now I need to put together about 10 by then to keep everyone busy (men, women, children, everyone has agreed to help out with the tying!)

Many of the relief organizations are out of them due to the many disasters in 2005 and are begging for comforters, blankets, quilts, etc. to keep people warm.

I am going to sew a couple of recieving blankets tommorow and cut out and maybe sew a maternity jumper for myself. I am due June 19 and am ready for something new.
