Hi Again, I want to make an I Spy Quilt and have the pattern from the book PS I Love you but it shows the squares in an hexagon shape and that scares me do you think I could convert it to a square and set it on the points? Thanks Nancy Does that make sense to you?

Nancy, Yes you can. You can really make an I Spy quilt in any shape you want. They are so fun to collect fabrics for. Summer

Hi Thanks for your answer. Would I just say use a 3 or 4" square and then use strips to separate them? Nancy

Yes if that size works for you. Outline them either with strips, or set them on corner with a wonky type frame. The possiblities are endless, do whatever you think looks best.

Ok, I'll bite. What's an I Spy quilt? I've heard of it before but have never been sure of just what it is. Thanks.

a quilt made using fabrics with pictures, e.g. animals, bugs, fruit, etc. It is usually a quilt for kids and you can play the "I Spy" game and have them find the picture on the quilt. When I went looking for examples to show you, I found out that traditionally they are made using hexagons....something I didn't know. Found some really great pics of some. Thought I would add some links as I thought they were interesting. Makes me consider doing one myself...my niece is having a baby any day now and this could be something for the future and I have lots of little great nieces and nephews. Glad I looked this up! http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_quilting_other/article/0,1789,HGTV_3305_1394148,00.html http://www.gammon.com.au/helen/quilts/index.php?id=8 http://boonedocks.net/pa/pa.php?p:693:s:38 http://froggingout.blogspot.com/2005_01_01_froggingout_archive.html http://www.natquilt.com/gallery/quilts/ispy4bind/iispy4.htm http://www.quiltville.com/ispya4patch2.shtml TTFN from

Nancy...I know what you mean. I often buy books and then discover similiar or better instructions on the web. But I am a bookworm and I love my books too. Good luck with your I Spy quilt. Make sure you come back and post a picture. Everyone loves to see what someone else does.
