As I said in my post about pictures. New members bring a new round of questions. So here is how you change your avatar.
Click on User CP.
Click on Edit Avatar.
You will have three choices.
NO Avatar. If this is your choice then click that and then "save changes" at the bottom of the page.
Choose one of the standard 13 available here on the site then click "save changes".
Custom Avatar. This is what I choose and I enjoy changing it with the seasons. I have found the best way to do this is to upload it from your computer rather than use the URL method.
Please keep in mind that the maximum size for you image is 75 by 75 pixels. This can easily be fixed in a graphics editing program.
There are many sites out there that have free images of those exact sizes.
These are my favorite for learning how to make your own smileys and for getting free ones.
esmileys (http://www.esmileys.com/makesmileys.php)
Maze Guy (http://www.mazeguy.net/faq.html)
click smilies (http://www.clicksmilies.com/)
Please anybody else who has a favorite site for their smileys add it on.
Once you have uploaded your image click "save changes" and you should be good to go.

Well it appears that click smilies is gone. . They were my favorite. I guess I'll have to get busy searching for a new sorce for smilies. Oh and a hint to all you smiley lovers out there. If you really like a smiley save it to your computer, you never know when the site might dissapear. :bang:   :coffee:

Click Smilies is back. YEAH!!!!!

emmm GIna....
I love my eyeballs - but I can't remember where they came from and have not got them on my computer - how can I save them?

hang on - I have just dragged and dropped my eyeballs and corncob grin to the desktop and it saves it as a gif - but 6 pages - how do you make sure that they animate when next you use it?

Jan,

You should be able to right click on your eyballs here on the site and then click "save as" and then save it somewhere on your computer. I have a folder just for all the cute little graphics and stuff I find on the net. Unfortunately I didn't have my smiley letters from my signature saved so I lost them. :bluesad:

I have no clue what to so with your drag and drop eyeballs. I am by no means a computer wizz. I learn by trial and error. But mine always do their trick or dance when I save them in a folder.

ahhh Gina
right clicking is impossible on a mac - many of my problems come from that - the world is NOT run by windows - Bill Gates just thinks it is.

I only have 1 mouse button.

Sorry, I can't help you then. Like I said I am self taught on my hubby's computer which is microsoft all the way. The last time I touched a Mac was back in highschool and those were the days of Z> and floppy disks that were actually floppy. :re:

I have a wonderful graphics program that I use to make my own personal avatars. I wasn't sure if I could do that here with this site. Now that I know I can, I'm off to start looking for something that would be sewing-appropriate....hhmmmm :re:

Playing around with my Avatar today..inspired by all the really cool ones I've seen posted. My question, though, is how to add an animated one? I tried, but got a response that it wasn't allowed. Maybe it's too big? Just wondering...............

Thanks!
Peggy

It probably is too big. Try shrinking it.

OK I just tried to upload an animated avatar and it said they are not allowed. HMMM. I'll have to check with Mary and see if they were eating up too much bandwidth.

i tired to download a animated one here also and it will not let you.
Also, Jan your eyes used to blink all the time but I don't see that now on my Windows. Is it something to do with this site or Windows itself? Even the little head Mary has that throws the computer doesn't animate any more or the teacup !!!!

My eyes blink on my mac too - I would blame windows every time but then I am notoriously biased:mad: mind you - little angry man has never jumped up and down for me when I post with him..

Good one Lennie.

I wish I'd known about this post a few weeks ago before it got bumped back up. It took me ages to get one to work for me and it wasn't my first choice. I was a bit bored at the time though so I just kept going.

It's fun to see some of the new avatars people have been choosing for themselves.
