I got so busy reading all the posts this a.m. I almost forgot why I logged on! After a very long time away from sewing I recently got back into it.......Even tho' I have no children or grandchildren to sew for, I have a fondness for little girl clothes. So I am sewing a little outfit in girls size 6. It consists of a red cord jacket w/collar to match denim pants (which I plan to embroider on) and a little red cord beret hat that I have made the band out of the denim material also to tie it all togeter......IMHO it is very cute. The little jacket requires toggles as button closures. I need some suggestions on creating these. I know what toggles are, but haven't seen any ready made that did anything for me. I would like to maybe make something on my own that isn't very complicated..........my old brain dosen't work that good any more! If any of you can help or have suggestions where I might find instructions for making them I would sure appreciate it. |

Do you have a craft store or bead store near you? You might be able to find some wooden or clay or metal beads to string onto a wire. Our Michaels craft store has a huge aisle full of every kind of bead/bead hardware you can imagine.

I seen a button made of fabric some where on line ...a piece of fabric cut in a triangle and rolled up wide end to small... glue ...button hole was a another piece of material made into a spagetti strap folded in half and sewn at one end ...Okay so my instructions aren't as good as blackie...

That's right, Bren. I saw that in either Sew News or Threads, some time since summer.

I would forget the toggles and go with frogs. I put them on crocheted baby sweaters and it gave them a unique look. |

Thank you all.........you're suggestions are all appreciated. AndreaSews I had seen that web page before but didn't look at it very closely. Have bookmarked and will check it out again! Patti2.. I like the idea of using frogs. Will have to check our local shops to see what they have. Will go to my favorite "WalMart" first! |
