I'm making two more of those shopping cart covers--People in my life are on a procreational roll these days! cart cover (http://www.connectingthreads.com./searchResults.aspx) It's easy to make, and people always rave about them. Trying to save money on the materials, I've been buying batting and two layers of fabric and then spending the time to machine quilt them at home. Right now, in the very middle of that quilting job, haha, I'm wondering if it's such a savings after all. I'm certain it gives me more selection in fabrics than if I were to buy pre-quilted fabric that's on-hand at the shop. Oh well. I don't really have a Q and I'm not really trying to spark a conversation, but I'll bite if you're interested. I just needed to pull my head out of the constant rattle of the machine :whacky: and blab that out to the sewing world.

No pattern but here is another example. Someone else posted this just the other day on another thread.

Thanks I've put both those sites in my favorites and will try to order after Christmas sewing is done. Will make great presents for some grands and also maybe to sell to other GP's to give as gifts. Another good idea! Now to execute it!

Deb, if you do choose to get the pattern, you'll learn 2 things. 1) the design is so easy, you'll wish you'd thought of it first. But then, I am making it for the 4th and 5th time now, so I'd say the designer has earned her $8 :) 2) the cart component kit is worth the $4. I have made several now, and I think the next time I do this I will go back to buying the kit. I thought I could save $ by buying the webbing (straps) and buckles and velcro on my own, but it turns out that it costs $2(+) for the buckle alone. Another $1-2 for the velcro, depending on sales, and $1-2 for the webbing, plus yoy have to hunt around for them. The kit's handier and I do think cheaper. If you think you'd like to make this over and over, then you can buy a few kits at once to save on shipping fees. I like to use flannel on the face-up side, b/c I think it's a nice texture, and I've been experimenting with using juvenile and adult/mature print themes. For the under side, I had some muslin lying around that I used up. This time I picked up some closeout Quilter's cotton in colors that coordinate with the flannel I found.

It's always helpful to talk to someone who's already been there and done that. Thanks again. Now if you could solve my pj problem. Cutting error! Dumb mistake and now only have one leg and not enough fabric to make the other one. Oh well maybe he'd like one leg out of something else. LOL

Yes, Deb, I saw that post. The only thing you can do is cut yourself some slack and start over with a new fabric. Or send a gift certificate!! :/

Andrea that is so cute! What a great idea, the cart cover. I've always gotten the heebee jeebees when I see little kids in the grocery carts, they are certainly not the cleanest things in the world (the carts) On 2nd thought, both. I may have to look at that more closely to see if I should add it to my list of stuff to do which is now way too long for my liking!!

I just ordered my pattern, but it was from a different site. It's kind of amusing to me the huge number of places that have their own version of this. My local Bernina store was going to have a class on this, but I wasn't able to go to it  . But, all told I probably saved money by just ordering the pattern online.
Here's where I ordered mine.
shopping cart cover pattern (http://www.shoppingcartcoverpattern.com/)
I just got it two days ago, and now I think I'll go and work on it now (or what might be better would be to do it after I take my shower...... :nervous: ).
All right off to pretend to be productive.
