My dd is asking for curtains for her bedroom and I just wanted to confirm for measuring that 2 - 2.5 x window width is the approximate fullness for rod pocket panels isn't it?? I seem to be having an air bubble. She's very much the 'granola' type but is also extremely fond of bright colors and foo-fooy things, so I am trying to come up with a little embelishment for these curtains which will be a lime green/chartreuse color in a room that is painted a melted milk chocolate color, her bedspread is white, pink purple, lime green, turquoise blue flowers. I was thinking of doing an 18" overhang that drops down with something on it. I did that in our bedroom and put hanging pewter bees, butterflies, dragonflies, and ladybugs. I used the little clipon thingys that you put on the corners of your tablecloth to hold it in place. Any brilliant ideas - oh, she's 29, single and shares this room with her 3 yr old daughter at the moment who has her own bed. I have no fabric yet, as I am going to have a great time finding lime green I bet!

Depends on how full you want your curtains to be. I often 2.5-3 x the width. Sounds like you'll be able to see those curtains in the dark! I love it when people want bright colors and even though they are kind of scary when you are putting them together, they always come out looking great once they are up or incorporated into what you were doing the piece is finished! Show us a pic when you are done if you can. Lyn

Yes, it really does depend on how full you yourself want them. I have also gone 2 1/2-3 times the width. I like them a little fuller. You said, "I did that in our bedroom and put hanging pewter bees, butterflies, dragonflies, and ladybugs." Where did you get the pewter bee's, butterflies, etc." Did you make them yourself or did you buy them somewhere? I am always interested in things like that. seajaih

I've seen the little clip on things at Linen n Things, they are the little things that clip on to the corners of the tablecloth to keep it in place. I actually got mine at a store here called Welkmart, its like a step up from a dollar store and they have some really nice stuff, I only paid $1.99 for them and they are really heavy metal, DH keeps getting hit when he goes out the patio door!
